Hi, I would be interested in the hood hinges. Do you have a price, a location, an e mail or a phone number for the seller? Thank you, Dave

He is an older guy who isnt to internet savvy so I am helping him out. No offense to you old guys out there :)

He told me this morning that he wants $225 for them. I told him it was steep but he thinks he can sell them for that.

Whatd'ya mean, no offense to you old guys? That's like saying, "no offense to you ugly fat girls". They're gonna be offended whether you tell 'em not to or not.

Now, if you'da said, "no offense to you smart, handsome, clever and experienced guys out there" you might not have got your tail in such a serious crack as ya' just did. Us old guys are sensitive, don'tcha know.

    Just sayin'.

$225!? Damn those things better be dipped in gold and made of stainless steel for that price! WHOOF! Looks like it might be cheaper for me to rebuild the sprung hinges I got.

Actually, that's pretty much what they go for these days if they're in good shape. The problem is that most of 'em are trashed, or have already been raided for another car. As I suggested earlier, your best bet is to repair them if you can...replace them only if you must.

    Old guy

I sold my one good spare one back in December to a fellow Hamber for $40 plus shipping and we were both happy!

will a 54 hood hinge fit a 53? dont see too many come up for sale so 225 might not be asking too much. i mean... its not like we are driving gm cars where parts seem to be plentiful. unless you have a 35 chevy master at which point you also own another orphan as far as the market is concerned.

Well, I went ahead and bought em, but I plan to rebuild the ones I have. Any pointers and tips would be most appreciated.

Did you tell him that you didn't want the whole car, just the hinges?? Dam, that's a lot of $$. BTW you can't hurt my dirty rotten feelings talkin about old men, cuz I always leave them (feelings) at home. :p:p;)

He was "playin' possum" He knows what they will bring on the market $225 and up is common on ebay. There is a guy that rebuilds them and beefs them up and does excellent work, look up Roland Hall on Google,he has gotten high praise from members on 1954ford.com and don't toss your old ones He will buy the cores if you contact Him.In case anybody missed my earlier post 1952-54 Ford & Merc interchange, also if you want them to last lube them monthly.

And...I won't poke any fun at the "Old Guys" here either. I wasn't around when my car was built, but they were. Who to learn better from than the guys that were around when these cars were new?

But, I guess I could always follow my dad's advice when it comes to workin on these old cars: "Son, it didn't take a brain surgeon to build it, so it sure as hell doesn't take one to work on it!"

That don't exactly sound like a compliment to me...

Remember, old age and treachery will overcome youth and enthusiasm every time*. So, just be careful who you mess with.

    Old guys rule!

    :D:D:D

Why doesn't who better to learn from than someone whos been there before not sound like a compliment to you? It was meant as such.

And as far as the wiley old man thing goes...just remember to be nice to your kids. They will be the ones picking out your rest home. HA HA! :D

But seriously...I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers if I did. I really did mean it to imply that since there are individuals here who have tons more experience with cars than I do, I plan on calling on the knowledge of those who know better than I.

Well it looks like I am the one who should be apologizing. I was making a witty comment to chid some of you on here for fun and apparently I am not as funny as I think I am. Sorry again to anyone that I offended. It was never meant to be rude or put any of you down. You all have been a great help to me and I dont want to burn any bridges. So lets put this aside and move on. Sorry again.

No, guys, I think it's me who needs to apologize. I have a very dry sense of humor, and I'll be the first to admit that sometimes it doesn't come across well on the internet.

All of us old farts on this social group are pretty much good with our age and tend to poke fun at each other...and at ourselves when the opportunity arises.

I was out of line to poke fun at a newbie, ***uming he'd know me and my sense of humor as well as the regulars. Reading back over the exchanges I can see where my words could easily be misinterpreted, especially by one who is not used to my style of humor.

I was never at any time offended by anything said by anybody. I am very comfortable with being an old guy and am not at all sensitive about being referred to as such. I revel in having fun poked at me, so there is absolutely no need for anybody to apologize to me.

We all get along so well on this site, and we have as a group been so successful at avoiding any kind of "ruffled feathers". Jeff is the best as a moderator, and is always great at getting us all centered again.

So...let's get on with it, shall we.

    :)

Like Randy Newman said before he sang his song "Short People" on Saturday Night Live, if I've offended anyone I want to say [IMG].
I think we're all old enough to take a joke.

I have a 54 crestline with one broken hinge bought it that way, is there a way I can repair it or replace it with a hinge from another car, I found some in california for 300 a piece I think thats way too steep. Please help, will 54 truck hinges work?

Fordsbyjay, is contemplating putting some hinges out of a mustang on his to make the hood lift higher and from what I saw if it works it will be a nice mod, I hope he tries it and lets us know how it goes.
