I've been working to install a 302/5 speed in my 56 for what seems like forever.
I first filled some holes and painted the firewall and fender wells.
The previous owner installed a wiper off a newer car, not sure what it's from but it ugly and it works.
The brake master cylinder is from CPP with built in proportioning valve, $200.

I then installed a hydraulic throwout bearing on the trans. This is the kit I used. It's a RAM Automotive unit I got from Summit for $200.

Added a brake booster. I made the booster bracket and had it chromed at a local shop.

    And the clutch master cylinder.

Now I need to get a hose made from the master cylinder to the throwout bearing, test the bearing for leaks and install the engine & trans and clean up the wiring.
My son just got a 64 Cadillac and he's been having me help him with it also.

Very nice work. I had a 302 in a 54, I used early Mustang tri Y headers. They were a huge improvment. They did need some welding on the very bottom, so if you dont weld at home, its not a good idea.

Looking good. I like a clean look undeer the hood. Have any of you ever tried using a Geo Metro booster and cyl. I am running one on my 56 Mainline with original drums. It works real nice. I used the same setup on a 64 Falcon with 74 Mustang II front end several years ago.

I posted info on the Geo Metro swap several years ago before the kits became available for our Fords,if you are on a budget check it out: www.fordfalcon2000.com click on "restoration"a lot of what applys to the Falcon works on our early Fords, the tilt column article is interesting.
