    What up Fellas,
New to the group. I'm from San Antonio, TX. I have a '53 Mainline 2dr with the intentions for a mild custom. I currently have '61 223 with 2 deuce Offy intake with the Demon 98's, but am fixin to drop the Chevy 355cid in with the Jamco conversion, I know a lot of y'all frown on me for this, but this is the engine I'm most comfortable with plus I already have a pretty Hopped Up SBC sittin in the corner of the garage just beggin to be brought to life. There are some really nice rides on here and loads of information. Hope to make lots of friends here. I have chingos of questions so I'll talk to y'all soon.

What a shame to ruin a nice car with a sbc.

Yeah maybe, but least it will be on the road....can't afford to build another engine right now and not willin' to let the SBC go.

Dustin , welcome about from Abbottstown , Pa !
Yes I am kind of a purist too when it comes to Ford and Chev engines but I always look at it this way , It's your car and you can do what you want to it ! The only thing that matters is that you are happy with the choices you make when building your car !
So when you finish it , just enjoy the car and drive the heck out of it !

Dustin, Welcome from So Cal. Nothing wrong with a Chevy in a Ford. I've had one in my 56 F100 for 22 years.

No shame putting a SBC in car, if its what you're used to, its what you're used to. Its the same reason why I'm a big fan of Y-blocks, they're what I'm used to.

    Have fun with the build!

Welcome to the group! Hey, if you got it use it,if you want to confuse folks you can always buy these:http://www.yourcovers.com/valve_covers_8357-7.php a lot of us with Ford SBF's catch **** for running HEI's.In a '52-'53 Ford swapping a SBC is not bad since you already have a rear sump oil pan to work with.Do some serious reading and searches on JAMCO on the main board before you buy as there are a lot of unhappy customers as of late,if your suspension is in good shape and you want it lower do the '89 Ford Aerostar spring swap you will get a better ride and handling and a 3" drop for about $65.How to do it is here in the archives with instructions and pictures.

Welcome from another "Forolet" fancier from Oregon. I'm running a 350/350 with an 8 inch rear. My '53 originally came from San Antonio area some 4 years ago. Also I have a Jamco suspension front and rear in the '53.... love it! Handles great, works right. Check out my '53 picture album for a peek at what they have.

Welcome to the group Rat Trap!!!!!! I also have a 54 Ford with Chevy 350/700r. Chevy install in the 54 was waaaaay easier than the 302 I installed my 55 ford and a hell of alot less $$$$ to do. :D Oh and with respect to the purist, I do have a 54 ford with a y-block (avatar) But its not the 239 that it came with, has been upgraded to a 312.:)

Thanks guys for the warm welcome & advice... Yeah if I had a choice I would definitely run a Y-block in the Mainline but I dont so Im stuck with the SBC for now. I bet those valve covers throw people for a loop. I hope to get the front end off this weekend and the I6 out, so I can start cleaning everything up & rebuild the front suspension & steering. I think I'll buy a set of the Aerostar springs & get rid of the stock heated springs. I got Chrysler Something? drop shocks in there now, but any one got part # for shocks.... like 3" drop. Are there other options than Speedway & Jamco for engine conversions and has anyone used the Speedway engine conversion kit I have not had the best of luck with Speedways quality but my friend recently bought a complete lowering kit for his '71 Chevy Pick-Up and it was really nice stuff. I looked at Y'alls cars in your photo albums.... really nice cars! I hope to have mine worth lookin at soon.

Another source for engine and transmission mounts is Trans-Dapt they are one of the oldest companies around,Google them to visit the website Summit & Jegs both carry them write down the part number and check their websites as the prices are better than buying from the site.

Welcome to the group! I don't care about what you run- whatever you feel most comfortable with. Definitely get rid of those heated springs- Aerostar all the way. They work great!

before you buy the jamco motor mounts for a sbc ,try looking at so-cal speed shop for 1932 ford weld in engine mounts part#cp-2107 made by ch***is engineering inc. after jamco gave me a run around for two months and charging my account and never sending the parts i went to so-cal (you might be able to get them straight from ch***is engineering tho.) and the guys found me these they look like exactly what jamco sells on there web site but for a fraction of the price..i never installed the sbc i just put a y-block back in so couldnt tell you how well they will work...guy at so-cal said you might have to cut the mounts that weld to the frame to get the right height and shape of the frame..just something to look at.....before you break the bank......i still have the ones i bought new in package if your intrested..

Couldnt find that part# on the so-cal website, so I googled it and found this... http://www.heinzmanstreetrods.com/catalogvol19a.PDF is this what your talking about. Looks like it could work with out to much h***le and at $85 im willing to try it. Does anyone have experience with the Speedway engine conversion or its components. LostHope you have a picture of the parts or could you take a picture.... I'm interested but curious to see how its gonna work.
