First I'd like to say hello to all. I'm new here and will proably need a little help only because I think I may be over my head on this project. I do have experence, this is not my first project but is for sure the oldest truck. I don't have this truck in my posetion yet. hope to pick it up by the end of this mounth. I live in WI and the COE is in AR its about a 13hr drive, but I just could'nt seem to find one any closer. Theres no gl*** in it and will need alot of metal work done to it. I'll see if I can post a pic. Lookin forward to chating and diggin into this awsome cab over.

Welcome RCATM. I can't see the picture but congrat's on the purchase. I think we all have felt like we might have taken on a job that is rather large. Just break it down into small chunks it can be done.

This group is very much alive but we have a small number of owners and posters. If you need help post away someone will chime up.

Tell us what your plans are for the COE, Pick-up, hauler, or what. We would like to know

I'm not sure just yet on the build. I see alot of haulers and pickups, I like both. Is there any one on here thats good at photo shop I'd like to see differant renderings of COEs colors, wheels differant boxs wheel lengths ect. I'm thinking I'd like to put a ***mins 4bt or a 6bt if it will fit. with a set of stacks maybe use a 2wd dodge 3/4 or 1 ton ch***is or a bread van ch***is. When I get her home I'll know more with dimensions and such. My mind is running. :D Rob

Congrats on the COE! Was this the one "missing the trinkets"? I had exchanged a couple emails with him, but a 26 hour drive away wasn't solvable. Instead I found a 1941 in CT. Good luck keep us posted!!

Not sure what you mean by missing trinkets? it doesn't have any gauges or wiring, just a bare cab. Its going to be a long drive for me to. about 1600 mi :(. Is there a vendor out there that supplies all the rubber weather striping and window moldings, gl*** etc. Or will some of this stuff fit off the same year pickup? I'd like to know where you guys are getting these kind of things. Thanks, RM

RM, Sorry for being so vaugue... The CL ad I saw for a 1942 Ford COE in AR was worded something like "Cab with clipped frame underneath. All the trinkets are missing". Which meant no gauges, stainless and so on... Another forum member pointed me to some sites that sell fenders, aprons, weather stripping and a few other items for our COEs. http://www.ozcoetrucks.net16.net/Index.html

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress!!

Sure... I was willing to persue it less the distance issue. My impression from the pictures was rough but workable. Of course, my thought is always until you actually see it in person, ya just never know....

I was thinking about you last night as I tossed my stock seat cushions. But then I thought, there's no way anyone is going to use these.

Well the COE made the trip, just shy of 1700 miles. my pickup (2004 f150) got horrible gas mileage. on the way home, wind drag got me. at only eight miles to the gal. I filled up offten. We stoped for lunch near St.Louis MO. an elderly fella stoped me to talk about the cabover and says he knows where theres one just down the road about 15 miles. He says its complete and thinks it runs. I wanted to go badly but being on a schedule and wanting to get home I gave the man my name # and email. He said he'd talk to the owner and send pics. I'm still kickin my self for not going to look. Still waiting for him to call or email. My cab isn't to bad for the price but will need alot work. I will attempt to post pics for all. I've had the coe now for a few days now, found a note left in my truck yesterday that said (if you need some parts for your coe I know of some). I called the guy, he owns a 1940 Ford coe and lives about a half hour away from me. I can't wait to see it. I'll take my camera too. Thats all for now.

  14. Welcome. A lot of times it is hard to find a better one than the one for sale.
Sounds like parts will be available. Looking forward to seeing pics
