I just picked up this 52 and drove it 250 miles home (New ****ord, CT): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200629415321

I've been around the HAMB for awhile, but this is my first 52 Ford. There is a lot done, but still a lot to do, and as you can see some re-styling to be done.

I saw how active and useful this group is, and had to join.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I definitely agree with sircampsalot2 on the aerostar coils to bring the nose down. I also have to flip the rear spring back shackles to where they belong. Right now they are flipped under the hanger raising it for some reason, then it has lowering blocks to bring it back down, which is why you see so much rear spring.

wow gearhead, sounds like somebody went to a lot of work on the rear springs to accomplish nothing.

I know. They basically raised it to drop it. The guy I got it from was enthusiastic with his wallet, but not too knowledgeable. He said he put in the blocks. Maybe someone raised it at some point by flipping the shackle, and he didn't realize it, so he just put in the blocks to make it lower. It took me a few times looking at it to figure out something was up, since it should be lower with 3" blocks.

I have never had a project this close to being done, but it still has so much potential and room to make it cooler.

Also, for complete transparancy, I need to say that this is my girlfriend's car. But, she doesn't work on cars and doesn't like driving manual, so this will really be my project, but not all the decisions and priorities are mine.

Neat car! Good price too, if its as nice as it looks.

Sometimes the spring shackles will almost flip themselves, if load is taken off and people aren't paying attention. Mine did anyway! A big pry bar and a muscle to match is the fix!

    Flatty run alright?

My wife and I compromised on my car as well. I wanted a cl***ic and she wanted a Ford. So, every time I run into another problem I kindly remind her that she wanted the Ford :p

dwaynerz, I haven't taken any pics of my own yet. In my first post I have a link to the ebay ad I bought it from.

Crestline, you're going to hate me, but the price in the ad was copied from something else. We hit the "but it now" for $5k. In some ways it is better than it looks. There are no pics of the immaculate trunk. The guy lost his shirt in this deal. We basically paid for louvers put in the hood and a paint job, and got a free car.

The flathead actually runs pretty great. It needs a carb rebuild for sure and some tweaking. It ate some oil on the drive, so I want to do a compression check to see what is up. Hoping just a stuck ring from sitting.

It also ran great considering the fan got into the radiator as soon as I hit the highway and put a hole in it on a 100 degree day. A fan blade was bent and started grazing the radiator at higher rpms. bent the blade back, crimped the tube, put in some stop leak, and got on our way after topping off the coolant.

Clustrck, I have my own car (Hudson truck really), so if there are any problems, they are all hers. In the meantime, I get to have all the fun working on it.
