I am pretty close to the point of no return.... Last weekend I pulled the 223cid out & all the front suspension off, so those parts are gonna be for sale pretty soon. I gotta work saturday and its a honeydoo weekend also, so next weekend I will be cleaning & boxing the frame & cutting out the crossmember and installing this engine crossmember Here are some pic's of the progress I have more to upload tomorrow. 355cid SBC
Thanks, Yep, goin' straight axle. I'm still trying to decide if I want to go with the Speedway axle or another dude that builds nostalgia race cars... determining factor is $$$$. -TRT-
Texas, you might like this Pic! I had this car as Group Avatar two weeks ago, this is a new shot from the Beaver Creek G***er reunion http://www.myrideisme.com/ViewEventImage/2011 G***er Reunion/4/ nice wheelie! Just so you know he runs a 406 SBC I was really hoping the 406 on the hood meant it was an FE Ford.
no matter the power, thats a lot of air under those tires. but yeah, a ford in a ford would have been better
Yeah I'll have some more pic's. Didn't get to work on it a whole lot this weekend, cuz I had to work on saturday & had to install a water heater today. But I'll get it done one way or another.
I was thinking I could box it like this... except for the front needs to be extended a little and rounded or bull nosed. Also thought I may be able to use the top shock mounting in stock location.
I hate fords with chevy motors. Everyone says its easier but it isn't, it is just as easy as putting in a ford motor, g***er will be cool though despite motor suicide lol
Instead of doing all that 'box welding in " of that heavy steel , why not just cut the frame off at the firewall area and just weld in 2 box rails . That would be a whole lot easier than doing all that welding PLUS it will really cut down on all that extra weight up front which you really don't want anyway . Then you can set you engine anyplace you want very easily ! You really don't need any of the original frame anyway , right ? You can also get the new frame rails farther down into the original frame as well to give you that extra strength when the front end comes down ! It will also be nice and clean in the front end area as well ! That sure beats boxing in that front end and having to do all that extra welding ! Will also make it easier to make a tilt front end as well ! BTW , there is a guy on the HAMB that will make you a straight axel for your g***er . He make the to either use Ford or Chev late 40's spindles too ! That is what I am going to do to my 50 Ford ! Just a thought ! Jim
