so far I ordered all this stuffs; -1990 ford aerostar front springs (awesome cheep 3" drop trick i picked up from yall) -all new rubber brake lines -master cylinder rebuild kit -wheel cylinder rebuild kits (all 4 corners) -re-poped gas tank -re-poped tank straps as you can see from the list i just cant get into the true rat-rod swing. I really couldnt see the beauty in taking a beer keg, semi air tank or something else off the wall, and making it into a space killing potentially unsafe fuel tank. I mean, that sort of thing looks great on older rods, but ill be just as happy paying the money and getting the tank made to stay under the car! LOL so im heasatent to call this a rat rod project. yes alot of it is going to stay nasty, rusted and falling appart, but im going to end up with moddern touches, a clean nice intirror (dont like the 'do I need anti-biotics after riding in this' feel of the origional skins)
looks like i nice start !! welcome aboard and dont forget to post progress pics bunch of great people here with info in the social group.....just to be forewarned the words"RAT-ROD" are not taken likely on this site .......maybe not so much here in the group but on the main board thell chew you up and spit you out and might leave you with a bad taste about the site.....id use "project car"...just trying to help you out...make sure you read the rules and on main page and it'll save you some grief.......

hey thanks guys, yeah actully this was my introduction post http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=612628 as far as the R word... Like I said this build isnt really a strict rat.. an as far as tangling with people that have attatudes about common nomenclature... thats more there issue than mine.. Im used to getting flack and having to defend my self to the 'holier than thow' group... Im just too laid back to get that uptight about any thing... but to smooth the way I will try to avoide kicking the cages... Possibly just refer to it as 'broke white boy with fab skills' build? LOL
actually, thinking about it now.... I really dont have any desire to walk egg shells to please the $50k boyd coddington hot-rodders out there *deleting proflie*
That was quick. I think you'll find the main board a lot harsher than we are. If you're into 52-56 Fords and want to build one, I don't think we care what you call it. If you're still around, welcome and be sure to share some more pics.
man they are rough on the main board. dont do this, cant go there, blah blah blah. you can do anything you want as long as its our way. what a welcome for someone new huh?
I had a post deleted on the main board just cuz I pissed off someone about 'hanging a transistor radio on the rearview mirror' being traditional or something. Apparently it wasn't old school enough for some, but that was reality for this poor kid in the 60s, and I wasn't the only one who did it, was I? I rarely visit the main board anymore - I get my drama fix from "Deadliest Catch" and let the main board trad-cops fuss over their policies. That said - a great big HOWDY and welcome to all the newcomers I've missed over the last few weeks.
