Hello all, I have an issue with my clutch that I can't seem to fix- I'll try to describe it to the best of my ability. About a month ago I noticed that my clutch was not returning to its full upright position after it was depressed. I could take my toe and manually pull it the approx inch and a half back to it's usual position with little effort. It does not affect the operation of the vehicle at all, but I want to fix it before it becomes a problem. My buddies and I crawled around trying to locate the problem. We sprayed lubricant everywhere we thought that it would help and even applied grease where we found the grease nozzle down by where the clutch meets the trans. Still no luck. Again, there is about an inch and a half of "slop" in the clutch. I have an idea, but will wait for responses until I mention it. Thanks everyone!
your still all stock if i remember. i wouls think of 2 things. the clutch is getting worn and needs adjustment. or the pressure plate is sticking and not fully returning.
Is there a Spring under the dash that goes to the clutch pedal? maybe its getting weak or is blocked by something.
I had the same problem with my utility. Makes sure you have spring on the pushrod on the clutch arm on the bellhousing. You will probably find that your clutch is in need of adjustment. I also had to fix the wear on mechanism that bolts onto the ch***is. On the Ozzy linkage the pushrod is not connected directly to the rod from the pedal. It is on a bracket which is pushed by the bracket the clutch pedal rod attaches too. Another surface that wears. I took all the slop out of it, replaced the pvot step bolts as well. All is now fine.
Thanks for the responses fellas! Both springs are attached and appear to be in fine condition. One of my buddies initially suggested that we shorten the spring underneath the car by the trans, but we thought better of it. I am going to have to find out the technical names for the parts from my Shop manual (I am learning) and then I will check back with a couple more questions I'm sure. Thank you all again, and any other suggestions are welcome as well.
