1952-59 Ford firewall insulating pad

does anyone know if a firewall pad for a 56-56 will come close to fitting on a 54 convert? They appear to be a whole bunch cheaper. The only ones I could find for a 54 are plastic and $200. If not we may have to make one.

 

I would think the 55/56 would be wider . I can measure my 55 tomorrow if you want me to for you . If it's wide enough that's the main thing then you can cut what ever else is in the way up top and no one will see it up under the dash anyway !

I'd try the '55 / '56 repro pad also. It may fit, or at least be adaptable. Heck, they almost fit the '55/ '56 Fords without too much modification !

 

www.cl***icautoparts.com has the 55-56 for $49.95 they are very close,be sure and get the special clips for it too the old clips will usually not work again once they are removed.My local upholstery supply had the special card board 4' X 8' for $8 and foil backed jute by the yard I made my own and it turned out good total cost about $28 including 3M spray adhesive.It would help if you had whats left of the old one for a template if you don't make a template from a large cardboard box.
