Hi, I thought I'd better get around to introducing myself, as I joined weeks ago, but never got around to it. I've been a HAMB'er for a couple years on another forum, but now I find myself working on a '53 Customline Tudor. My dad bought it new, and he still owns it! I brought it over a few weeks ago for some basic safety upgrades, but am having trouble figuring out where to quit. Brakes, brake hoses, gas tank, dual master cylinder conversion, then found the wiring insulation was essentially dust that looked like cloth somehow. Just finished putting a new harness in yesterday. Has the 215 engine, but it looks like no one makes a fuel pump kit for a double-action pump. Any ideas? Would like to keep the gl*** bowl, but function wins over beauty.
Here's your fuel pump : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1954...Accessories&hash=item2ea6e0ee9e#ht_500wt_1182 Just so you know 1952-56 do interchange so this will do the trick. Welcome to the group!
Welcome to the best group on the HAMB from Abbottstown , Pa. Must be something really special that your father has the same car he bought new ! Jim
Hello, Iam new to Ford world, i have been around bowties and hemi's most of my life. Currently working on the wifes 1955 fairlane victoria two door hard top. I couldn't bring myself to put a LS motor in it, so i built a decent Y-Block for it. I have plenty of questions, and iam sure more to come when i get ready to drop it in next weekend. -Chris
Thanks everyone, and also for the fuel pump lead JeffB2! I don't know where they are getting them, but at this point I don't care. I'll try to put some photo's in my album soon.
Welcome to the group from NOR CAL. Hey retro jim did you feel the ground shake in PA? Earthquakes are the norm here in Hollister Ca. I live a block away from the San Andreas fault.
Welcome! I'm pretty new to this group but can tell you this is a great bunch who are more than willing to help you out.
I finally fired up the old 215 last night after all the work to make sure there wasn't too much exicitment. It ran beautifully, considering I hadn't rebuilt the carb or fuel pump yet. They didn't leak too much for being dry for all these years. I'll do something with them before actually taking it out on the road. I'd just rebuilt them in the early 80's, and they need work again already! Must have been cheap parts. BTW, Ive got a perfectly good original gas tank if anyone is interested. It probably not shipable, but if you're near Washington state....
