posted this on the main board but figured one of you guys might be able to help me out i looked through the searches and found nothing so if this is answered somewhere else im sorry I have a 53 mainiline with a straight six, 3 on the tree, i just picked up a 8ba out of another 53 ford. It came with a fordomatic. Will the 3spd behind the six bolt up and work with out any extra parts? Thanks in advance
At the very least you'll need the correct flywheel and clutch ***embly, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, clutch linkage for both sides of the firewall, and a bunch of ***orted hardware.
You may want to check this place out:http://www.owenssalvage.com/alliance.html they have a lot of Fords from that era.Good news is your Ford-O-Matic pedals and linkage will work in a 52-56 Ford so if someone is doing a 302 & C4 or AOD swap you can resell your parts, you have two options you could swap in a stick shift column from a 52-54 Ford which is a pain or use a Spectre floor shift on the 3 speed about $40 from Jegs or Summit. The other part for the swap you'll need is the Z-bar and bracket from a 52-53 V8 car.
Thank youu guys so much, the car is a 3spd car so the column won't be a issue. Its a running and driving car as it is but I am building upp the 8ba for it so again I figuured the liinkagge is all there. So I figure iill need pilot and throwouut and the flywheel. Thanks again
