I like it. Does it ride on bags, or is it just that low? I'm also impressed that this is only your second post and you're already better at posting pics than a lot of guys.

I had two '66 Galaxies this summer, an LTD two door hardtop and a 500 rag. You plan to paint this one?

  5. Welcome aboard lowgalaxie! Your pictures bring back alot of memories. I had a '66 Galaxie 500 I bought back in '84. Same color as yours. I cruised the shit outta that car. It was a good one. Mine was lowered and had old wire wheel style hubcaps on it. My plans were to shave it, louver the hood and trunk, put it in a nice coat of primer, skinny whitewalls and put moon discs on it. I always said I wanted to make it "Bonneville style"! Back in '84 when I told people I wanted to do this they all said I was crazy. Everybody said stuff like I should put Cragar SS wheels on it and lift the back up, put a hood scoop on it, and don't shave, louver or primer it. I guess I was way ahead of the trends that are accepted today! Anyway, it never was to be. I was just a kid in high school and didn't have a whole lot of mechanical knowledge. It started to give me some problems so I sold it. Looking back now, it was all easy stuff to fix, and selling it was a big mistake! I've always got my ear to the ground for another one, but 2 door Galaxies are getting scarce.

Good luck on yours. I really like what you've done so far. Looks real nice! E

  6. Cool! I dig the original color. Maybe re-do the original color and add more metallic to the paint? Some nice striping on the hood and trunk? Chrome smoothies, maybe? Anyways...looks cool, man!

Love it! I was wondering what baby moons would look like on mine. I am just putting mine back on the road. I should be driving it next week. I just need to bleed the brakes and go get the exhaust done.

I am really interested in bagging mine, at least in the front. Got any pictures of the installation?

There are still plenty of 2 doors still around.
Here's a couple of pics of my black 66 2 dr.

I really like it. As stated before the only thing I would change is to re-paint it in that color. And also depending on the interior re doing it. Thats one of the first bagged late 60's galaxies that I have seen, it looks really good.

Black wheels, baldies, and inchwalls...when this phase makes it's comeback, let's hope it lasts as long as the red wheels and whitewalls has the 2nd time through...every one of the cars posted is a charmer ! Thanks !

the air setup is 2500's in the front and 2600's in the back. I have an eight gallon tank with f/b/s/s and 2 viair 450 compressors. I kept the rear suspenion stock just replaced the springs with the bags. as far as plans i dont really know yet just going to keep it simple.
