I have a 61'Galaxie with a 292 Y block. I was changing the cap and wires, forgot to write down how they go back.
Can anyone tell me the firing order, thanks.

Do you have the stock intake? It might have the firing order cast into it. I'm not sure though, cause I've never worked on a Y-block. It would be easy enough to check though.:)

Yeah, that was one of the first things I did.
I know how the order goes on the block but when it comes to connecting the wires back to the cap, I'm lost,
I been checking on the net and can''t find anything.

Since you know the firing order, and assuming that the dist. is in the engine, just turn the engine over to top dead center, pull the dist. cap off, and look and see which post on the dist. cap, the rotor is pointing to. This will be the number one post on the dist. cap. Then just follow around the dist cap, with the firing order and you should have it. Just be sure that the engine is at TDC and not 180 degrees off. Also you might have to make an allowance for the initial advance that the engine is set for, when first checking what dist cap post that the rotor is pointing at, (the rotor probably won't point directly at the #1 post, but be slightly ahead of it).
