Hello guys, I found out how to decode the vin on my 1954 Ford
Well to my surprise I do belive I have a Customline club coupe WHAT!!???
I was told this car was a Crestline coupe, the body code is 72b which comes up as a Customline club coupe, Now thats from the parts book like Macs and Concours Parts codes Is there any site anyone knows of that is better than the books for decoding the vin?

    Thanks
    Kevin

72B? - I could be wrong but in 54, the customline 2d coupe was 70B (atleast I know mine is)

although, I don't know that there was much difference in the cars other than the crestline was a bit of an upgrade on the customline (trim & interior, maybe some options)

I don't remember where I got these but they may be of some help. I can't make them any larger here, so it you want them larger, PM me and I will email them to you.
Jeff, I also belong to lovefords but they aren't near as active as here and have horrible restrictions on the number of pictures you can upload. That said it is a great website with friendly people and good info.

Why would you question the info in front of a Ford parts book? Just curious.

If it's original or reprint of an original Ford publication, that info should reflect accurate body codes & definitions. Being a former Parts Mgr, those books used to be our "bibles" back in the day.

While admittedly there may have been some errors but generally speaking, they were pretty good. Lots of good stuff there.

Having a Customline Club Coupe is not a bad thing, they did not make a lot of those compared to other models I think you are very lucky to have it.

Mine is a Customline Club Coupe also. Club coupes and business coupes had the short roofline and smaller rear side windows. Business coupes had no rear seat and stationary windows. Club coupes had a rear seat and roll down windows. They only made a little over 30,000 Club Coupes, not many compared to other models of that year.
