Where are you guys getting this red hose? Is it sold as fuel hose? I was warned about it and saw how short lived it was in the '60s so I've never used it. I think it was called Tygon, we used to use clear Tygon in a lab I worked in but it was definitly not for use with hydrocarbons. There is a tygon for use with gasoline (4040 is what I remember) but it was sorta ugly yellow. I remember most every body using thumb bent copper for fuel lines, it'll crack too though, putting an extra loop in it helps with vibration.
Speedway sells it. They claim it is a better quality plastic than the "old stuff" Hell, they make gas tanks in plastic these days. I have it on my nailhead, but I will be watching it. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/aspx/display_id.1634/qx/Product.htm
I love the way the red stuff looks but I just wouldn't trust it for 3 years, thats all especially for more than a year....
I use clear line i get from Zipper's in Elkridge Md. It's for S&S carbs but works great on my twin carb set-up. I do change it out for new every year though . It's very heavy wall and very durable. Chuck Fish
When I put the two duece set up on the flathead in my '48 Ford, I used clear, red fuel line. After 3 weeks the line had turned orange. After 3 months, the line had the consitency (sp) of a gummy bear to the touch. At that point, I switched to black rubber.
I can't believe it,here's a man building a car called "Deaths Doorstep" who advocates"fire extinguishers" and no or frequent replacement of "red fuel hose"on a regular basis. What's up with that ?LOL My money is on the hard stuff, aluminum, stel or copper. T.OUT
For what it's worth go to www.mcmastercarr.com and go to rubber and plastic tubbing and then go to the comparison charts. It will give you a list of the differant type's availble and what types of chemicals they are pervious to. Walter
Good to see the engine back in the truck. That black line looks like shit, you need to put some red line on it for the traditional look.
