I was filling up my gas tank then droped about a gallon on the ground and continued leaking as i drove.i blew a hole in my gas tank wtf!
Bob Drake has excellent reproductions.. I have one in my car that the PO installed. http://store.bobdrake.com/5254fordcars.html
I seen them in the mac catolog for $325 also.just wanted to see if another company had them cuase mac's is exspensive
Bob Drake makes em, unless we have an Alliance Vendor who sells em, you're probably stuck with $325. For what I have seen used ones go for, I'd buy a repro if I needed one.
The cheapest way to get a new gas tank and install it is to use an early 65 or 66 Mustang gas tank . I have used them many times for different cars . All you do is cut the trunk floor out and the Mustang tank sets down into the hole with a lip that goes all around the tank to hold in place . Then you just screw the tank into the trunk floor . It's really easy and the tank are just a little over $130 . You would have to figure a way to hook up a fill tube outside the trunk or you can just fill the tank inside the trunk . Then you can cover the outside fill tube up . Just a thought . Jim
I have a good one that came with a parts car I bought. The seller told me that he had it cleaned and boiled out by a radiator shop and it does have a radiator shop tag soldered on it. You can have it for $100.00 plus Greyhound shipping which I would estimate at around $50.00. Let me know. Alan S. Freeman
You better jump on Alan's smokin' deal! those are hard to come by I had mine boiled cleaned and leak tested and the labor was $60 alone
Boy, if Deiselchuck doesn't jump on that, I sure could use it. I didn't know mine was in such bad shape untill I took it off the car and looked in it. If DC doesn't want it, I'll buy it!
The $239.00 fuel tank offered by gastanks.com is for a '55 Ford and WILL NOT FIT '52-'54 models. Alan S. Freeman
alan you are right! i called bob drakes and they are back ordered and will not punch any out till there is a order of 30 to fill so far their is 20 something requested and i put my name on the list unless i find something new but anyone can put their name on the list and they will not charge u they will just call and let you know their avail.
I've got a used tank out of a '53 customline that you can have for $25. I bought a Bob Drake unit just beacuse I didn't know what might be in this tank. Looked pretty good inside when I changed it though. The problem is that I'm not sure UPS will want to ship a g***y tank. It's still got 1/4 tank of gas in it. PM me if you are interested. Maybe you are within driving distance.
just build one i took 16 gauge sheet metal and a bender and welded it up then put the bungs and filler neck in ive got 60 bucks in a 4x10 sheet and then time. its been in for over 2 years no problem
I sold it to another Hamber after Dieselchuck decided to p*** on it! He is still looking for one. Alan S. Freeman
