1953 Ford Customline two door price 800.00 Project car started in late eighties.I have not worked on it since the mid nineties. I became interested in other things and never got back to it. We have decided to move and I do not want to take it with me. This car has the typical rust in the floorboards.and fenders and rear quarters. I have replacement rocker panels, lower rear quarters and above the rear wheel well panels. The doors are in good shape with no signs of rot at the bottom.I think this might be a good place to start the search for a new owner. Not offering any individual parts for sale at this time. I wanted to drop an olds engine in but it has pads for a sbc right now. I did bolt a sbc in once to check the fit and it was good.Front fenders and hood are not reinstalled. Gl*** is all there with some minor frosting at edges on some.Stainless trim is all there with a couple pieces having small dents. I did start the body work on the p***enger side.Finish it or use it for parts. It was always going to be a low budget hot rod driver for me with a patina finish, not a shiny show car.I am moving from Illinois to Utah and can find another car or project out there. This car has long way to go but is doable. No engine or ****** Front stub from a 76 nova Tilt steering from same nova The flathead, transmission ,original front suspension and steering column are gone. Some photos here. I dont have any one handy to help me push it outside and back in again for better photos now,but I can take more of a specific area upon request. http://ImageEvent.com/skullo/1953fordcustomline Thanks for reading George
George , Good luck with your move and new life . I wish you the very best in the warmer climate ! The car doesn't look that bad at all for what you are asking for it . It would also make a great nostalgia drag car as well . If you are posting in a local paper or on C/L , that might be something else to consider for a different ad . There are a lot of guys/gals looking for cheap older cars to build drag cars from . That's how I got my shoebox Ford . Just a thought . Jim
Jim thanks for the suggestions. Before my wife talke me into moving I was considering putting a sraight axle under it . I always liked jackup cars anyway. Not that I dont also appreciate a lowered look either.I will probably list on the local CL soon. When we get settled into Utah I can look for another car that did not spend its life in the Rust Belt.
Skullo, have you seen the cancer cars in Utah? I have relatives in Ogden and some years they can walk from their second floor balcony to the hay loft on the snow. I would look a little further south for a project.
Stig , no ihave relly not lloked at many cars out there in person yet. Spent two weeks in August andwas very busy doing other things.Do they use salt on the roads there? When I get there I will be much closer to southwestern cars than I am now. I dont mind paying for a nicer one also. I realy dont have much in the 53 I have now.
Whenever I'm in UT, I just amazed at the amount of rust on the cars there. I'm talking cars less than 5 years old. I don't remember seeing any old cars when I am there. Don't know if they use salt.
My daughter was stationed at Hill AFB (SLC) in the 90s, she said they used a salt/sand mix on the roads in that area.
Well thre is no shortage of salt there thats for sure.Salt flats and salt lake, and that is the area we are moving to.I only spent two weeks there but did not see many old cars. I know the do have emmisions testing in SLC area.
