Hey ya'll. I've been around the hamb for about a year. This past weekend I purchased a 1954 Ford. It's an original car, bought it from the daughter of the guy that bought it new. She said her dad worked at the plant where the car was made and he actually worked on the car on the ***embley line. He bought the car as it rolled off the line. Everythings original on the car including the paint. It is missing the radiator and has 2 battery boxes (not sure why that is). the floor boards are pretty well rusted out in the bottoms. Engine is locked down and the transmission is stuck in neutral. I think I got a pretty good deal on the car so there is room for fixin without getting in over my head. I'm gonna leave it as original as I can, replacing the floor pans, getting the running gear up to par then have fun in it. Any suggestions is appreciated.
Welcome to the group! Contact our member ems customer service via a pm they can hook up with the floor pans, how many miles are on the '54 ? The 239 V-8 was only used in 1954 cars and 1955 F-100's so parts to rebuild it are pricey and not always easy to find, are you planning an engine swap? One other thing to check is the wiring these cars had cloth insulation and it tends to rot and fall away at the touch after almost 60 years.
Hint on the radiator,1965-67 Mustang radiators will bolt in to your '54 you will find them much cheaper than a specified '54 radiator. The 6 cyl radiator has the top outlet on the p*** side bottom outlet on drivers side(radiator is commonly used for 302 swaps with '70 and later water pumps) 8 cyl radiator has both outlets on the p***enger side.
