As it gets colder up here in the north i've been cleaning up around my property and think i'm ready to get around to a few garage and yard art projects. i've got a front end from a 51 IHC cabover that i got screwed on soooo i'm going to build a bar out of it. it will go up on the mezanine in my garage. i'm in the planning stage but have given this project some shop space and have been gathering pieces. i'll take some pictures when i get it level and on some wheels.

  2. I trust there will be invites to view/test the finished bar project?

I started this thread on garages to get some action on our site. lets see your projects in their homes. or some garage art etc. I'd like to see some updated pics of our leader's new garage.(donn) I'll take some pictures of my cave soon. i'm installing a new overhead furnace so the pics will have to wait till i'm done. Kelly-we'll have to make a point of testing it out.

[IMG][IMG]I have a few pics of my cave. I had a new building put on my property a few years ago that made my old one look like ****. I had thought to reskin the old to look like the new, but the cost seemed better spent on memorabilia to make the shop look like a 50's retired gas station instead. Not only has it been more fun, but its no longer jus a building to me but a place to jus go to sit for no reason.

it looks great.... looks like you ve got buildings out the wazoo.
yrs ago there was a used heavy truck parts outfit that used the front couple ft. of a cab over stick n out the side of the building. the grill area was the door ya walked thru. was pretty neat i thought.

That doorway sounds kool, but the bar idea is sweet...one of those "on the back shelf " ideas.

Here's a couple shots inside my shop....disregard the tractor. My shop is 40x60 (no mezzanine) with a paint booth. This is a buisness, so not to many doo-dads on the walls. Just a few signs and posters. Not decorated outside either, but I do have some yard art.....

Okay, Pex asked for some pictures of my shop. Now don't be too quick to judge I am still moving in and because of a physical disability I don't get much done on a daily basis. Bear with me but I'll show you where I am now.[IMG]

My shop is 24 X 48 but only one story. 10 Foot walls. Fired off the wood burning stove and it won't hardly heat it up. Am going to have to insulate the ceiling thought I could get away with it for this winter but no dice. I havent drywalled the office yet maybe next summer. Where the window is and the bar shelf is a p*** through actual storage for booze and mixers will be in the office.

Donn, Your shop is really coming together nicely....RMR&C your shop is very nice as well. Heck, I am inspired...I may show my space if I can figure out how to get them on here. One thing for sure..no matter how large the garage, it is never enough space

I insullated mine with R-40 in the attic and R-20 in the walls. i'm using a 40gal hot water heater(nat gas) averages about 80 bucks a month when its cold . i also am in the process of hanging a 150,000btu unit heater as the in floor radiant heat cools off to about 42degrees F when its 40 below. keeps it from freezing up but not warm enough for this old guy to work in. the plan is to be able to warm it up, shut it off and work for a couple of hours. gives a guy something to do in our winters besides watching tv.

We get to -40 to -50 here in Montana too. I have a 95K propane heater in there in addition to the wood stove but propane is costly. Wood is free and I have 7 cords of it stacked at the side of the shop. I hate the cold so I'll have to fix the problem.

Kool caves gentleman! I must say however, Pex and Donn must be ********...at -40 degrees outside, its to far a walk for me to the shop. Hell...at 10 degrees above I'm thinkn hard.
RMR&C...love the yard art. Perfect amount of snowfall on it for that pic. Is that a down draft booth with filter racks on top of walls?
Still lookin forward to the COE bar pics! Looks like a toy store in there.

OOooo, that's the same as the rig I'm building. Very cool. Its in lots better shape. You've got the specific cabover bits on the 1/2 cab, you could use any other L cab to make a cabover. well, no fenders and the doors would have to be cut at the bottom, but the tall cowl side panel and those curved hood supports are COE only. The lower part of front firewall too, there is a seam above the C crosspiece.

    Will make a cool bar!
