Hey guys,I'm thinking about putting a 312 in my 53.It came with a flathead from factory, somebody put a 55 6cyl in it.I still have the flathead bell housing.will the 312 bolt to either the flathead or 6 cyl bell housing?

I've been kinda kickin that idea around a bit for my 52 as well. Mine still has the stock flat head, but if it goes bad I was thinkin that might be a pretty cool swap if I can't get the flat head redone for a decent price...

Really shouldn't be an issue. The flathead bolts in at the front corners at the water pumps, which is where the old Hurst mount attached when you did the proverbial SBC swap. Welding in mount pads off the ch***is to fit the side mounts on a Y-Block is required, and you may need a rear sump truck pan to fit the ch***is like the flattie had. The front Y-block steady rest can be pitched. Put 390's in them in days past, a Y-block isn't much different.
