Hello I'm a new guy, I joined the HAMB a few weeks ago to help me along with my 55 club sedan g***er project. I just found this group of ford lovers and seems to be a bunch of great info to be had here. I'm planning on making this a drag only car, as I already have a street strip chevelle and am looking to build a nose high dirty g***er!

Welcome from So Cal. Good luck with the g***er. Maybe you can post some pics.
Retro Jim is also in PA and into g***ers. I'm sure he will chime in shortly.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I will try to get some pics up. I just pulled it in the garage Sunday morning, got the front clip and suspension pulled. Also dug into the rear, there was a 28 spline 9inch in it. Most likely go with 33 or 35 . Anybody know what these cars weigh?

Welcome to the best Ford group around ! I am down in Abbottstown near York and Gettysburg . I am hoping to build a g***er from a 49 or 50 Fords that I have . I also have a 55 Ford Fairlane . They are a good 2 ton car ! Just tear out and cut out anything you don't need to save on the weight .
I build engines and do car repairs on older cars on the side in my 2 car garage . If you get down hear me make sure you stop by . I hope to start on mine next summer or fall . I will be running a Ford 429 with a 4 speed toploader in mine . Trying to keep it period correct from the late 60's to early 70's .
Have you ever been to the Beaver Drags yet ? Lots of g***ers up there and Nostalgia races in the summer . There is a huge one there in July , I think .

Retro Jim, I get by your neck of the woods a few times a week. I deliver to UTZ pretzel factory 3-4 times a week then jump on RT30 at the Abbottstown circle and go to our other mill. I try to get to BSD a couple times a month. This car is being built in memory of my father, I lost him September 6th of this year. We purchased this in january and planned on building this thing to run at the Jalopy Showdown. He was diagnosed with cancer and it got pushed to the side. I told him he would get a 10 second ride, now I gotta put up or shut up!

fordsbyjay thanks for the welcome, I hope I dont get lynched for this but it is gonna get a methanol injected sbc. Not sure of the trans yet, I'm a 4 speed guy and have one laying here but I dont believe the M-20 will take the abuse. So it might get a t-400 or glide. Still early in the build so lots of ideas are racing thru my head.......lol.....

I am 1/2 mile from the circle ! If you are stopping at the feed mile that is a 10 min walk from my house . If you know where the Barber shop is next to the Ivy Hall Antique and Western jean place is , that is Abbott St. I am 2 blocks from that point ! I worked for Snyder's as a route driver for 17 years before my back gave out ! Let me know when you are in the area and maybe we can chat for a little time if you can . Just send me a PM for details !
As for the g***er you are building , if you stroke to a 383 or 427 you will have a much better chances of getting to that speed . You will need 700+ hp to drag that 4000 lb car down the track . I would go with a glide myself if running a SBC with a 4.56 rear or maybe even a 4.88 . That will give to a good launch , wheel stand and high winding around 8000+ rpms at the end of a 1/4 . If you plan on running Nostalgia drags , some will not let you use fibergl*** . Some will also not let you even use alum heads ! Just giving you a heads up on some of the different rules at different events . At the Beaver Springs HAMB drags , run what you brung !!! Can't wait to see your g***er !

Thanks for the welcome's again. Retro Jim I'm planning on this thing making right around 700hp, I'm gonna try to get it as light as I can. If there are any parts you guys need you should let me know and I will see if I have them. As for the transmission I had a TH400 fall in my lap so thats what I'm gonna run.
