I am in need of resources to get sliding window channel supplies, etc. Anyone sell these or do I have to make em myself. Thanks for any info
i went to the trouble of looking up the part numbers and searching on google for suppliers but came up with nothing. Danny on the 54 ford forum is in the middle of doing his 54 wagon and may know.
Check out H.A.M.B. member Hot Rod Primer for that info you can look Him up on the members list here, you may want to check this out: http://public.fotki.com/hotrodprimer/hotrodprimer-1/
Check Restoration Specialties in PA. They have (or used to have) all sorts of hard to find channel 814-467-9842. www.restorationspecialties.com
I'm pretty sure I got my felt/fuzzies from Restoration Specialties too. They have just about anything/everything related to gl*** runs, seals, catwhiskers etc. Ron
I got mine from them at the Hershey show a couple years ago . Good place to deal with and fair prices . What parts are you trying to find besides the felts ? Jim
Sorry I'm late showing up with information pertaining to this thread,,I started trying to install the sliding gl*** in our '54 Ranch Wagon this past Friday over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Trying is the optimum word because I had purchased the window run months ago to discover when I removed them from the box Friday it is too wide to fit properly inside the channel,,and guess what,,none of the local gl*** shops were open this weekend! What was sent was 5/8" and what you/I will need is 1/2". You might find the correct size window run at your local automotive gl*** company or you may have to order it from Restoration Specialties, www.restorationspecialties.com. Hope this helps,HRP
Update,I found the 1/2" non bendable gl*** run for the sliding part of the gl*** at my local automotive gl*** shop yesterday. I will use the previously purchased gl*** run in the doors. HRP
Perfect timing as I'm also near install time for the 53 wagon. Seems the height will also be a concern. The steel structure that the channel sits in angles down from front to rear. Maybe a 1/4 drop from 1/2 ish to 3/4 ish. Will the channel simply be exposed at the edge of the body up front and then disappear down into the body channel toward the rear?
We plan on spacing the channel up even with the metal using urethane or metal,,that will entail grinding the gl*** a little more,,I'll keep you guys informed. HRP
HRP Please take few pictures of the installation and maybe a short list of the channel and rubbers used in the installation. Thanks greg
HRP - Saw the updated pics. Wagon looks great! Did you happen to do***ent how you completed the sliding window channel? THANKS!
