Not hammer welding. That much heat would turn that big flat panel into a pretzel. I suppose it IS possible, but I don't have that kind of patience. I'm just mig welding it with a series of small welds to keep the heat down

I did finally get my roof all welded up.......
I didn't even warp it, which makes me REAL happy.

Not much progress since.....too much other stuff going on. I need to get to work on the drip rails and do some minor welding inside the cab, then the metal work should be about done.
I need to get this cab bodywork done so I can get it OUT of my shop....

Still tripping over the COE cab......I got the drip rails sorted out and welded on, what a pain! Removed the bracing from inside and finished up in there. Now doing some finish body work.....
Will try to get some pics soon.
I'm so close!! I just don't have the time to spend on this right now. Other priorities.....

    PROGRESS!!!!!!! PRIMER!!!!!!!!!!

I really need to get this cab out of my shop, so I dropped everything and spent a whole day finishing up the bodywork and spraying some primer. The bodywork is not perfect, I left a few dings and ripples for "character". After all the paint will be rattle can flat to match the original patina...
If I get some extra time soon I will paint it. The inside of the cab needs to be all re-done too.
    Couple pics....

Definitely making progress. We should have made arrangements to meet each other at the swap meet. I wasn't thinking. Did you find the hood trim yet? This is going to be a great looking truck.

    Thanks guys.

v8steel, when I get it painted I'll take a pic from the same angle and we'll compare....I'm thinking they will be nearly identical. I had your pic enlarged and tacked to my shop wall for inspiration.....

A conversion that looks as good as a factory would have done it for sure!!! Great job!

I painted the cab the other day.....color doesn't quite match but I can adjust that later. Just put more Krylon on it...:D

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, but still a long way to go....

Minor update......I haven't had much time for the old COE lately....
Been working on cleaning up the interior, pulled out the old wiring and gauges.
I've been trying to find a different gauge panel that would look good, like from a 50's or '60's car? Anybody got anything cool laying around?

I think I will leave the interior white, just clean it up...

Also spent some time dressing up the weld seams inside the roof, will need to put up sound deadener at some point.

Would like to do some work on the ch***is, but it hasn't stopped raining here for a month it seems.....oh well.
    Couple pics...

getting ready to start mine54 ford coe. If I want a 4 door would you use a f 100 p/u cab to do it. What is your ideas. THANKS PS like to see other builds done by regular home shops.

Yes you can use a regular truck cab for your extension. They are all pretty much the same F100-F750. You may need a couple extra doors for pieces if you do a 4 door.
There are several crew cab builds in this group, take a look around.
