In my haste to deconstruct the wagon 8 years ago I must have tossed the horns in one of the junk boxes in the barn,,now I'm ready to wire up the horns and I'm not sure if I even have '54 Ford horns or not. I found a pair of each horn,,one small pair the other large,,I need confirmation,is ether one of these correct? And If someone could take a photo of how and where they mount you would make my day! HRP
Those dont look like the horns in my 52. Mine have a large "bulb" on them. All the 54s I have seen are the same way. They mount under the hood, on the drivers side, toward the rear of the hood. If you have a cell that accepts pics, shoot me your # and I will get some shots of mine to get to you. Also, if you want, I have a pair of original, metal Auto Lite horns that I would be willing to let go for $50 (or make me an offer) plus shipping. Good shape, but could use a quick coat of paint.
I have the same horns in my 54 that Firerod63 is talking about, but they are not the original horns for the 54 as far as I know. The 6 volt horns are like the small one that you have pictured. I'm sure that the reason we all have the larger bulb type is that they are 12 volt.
The large horn does have a big bulb on the other side and would post another photo but let my camera at work,,,I will take another photo tomorrow. Thanks guys,HRP
not sure if my horn is 6 or 12 volt, but my son loves showing it off to his buds. he thinks thats one of the best parts of the car. it is realy loud. brings a big grin to his face when he hear it.
It brings a big grin to my face when I can hear my horn too since the other car is a japanese one with a baby horn.
horn on 53 is loud and proud. really gets those folks attention as they atempt to sleep thru a green light, or are too busy on the phone to pay any attention to their surroundings.
