Ok so I took out all my plugs lastnight, all the ones on p***enger side are running perfect, and all the ones on drivers side are oil fouled pretty bad. Now why is this? Bad rings or stuck rings? Is there anything I can do to maybe fix the fouling problem? Thanks everyone

What kind of engine? Oil fouled, or black and wet with fuel fouling? Do you have fuel leaking in one side? Check the carb, then try this, at about 2000 RPMs, SLOWLEY pour a coke can full of clean water down the carb to clean the carbon out. Put a can of Marvel oil in the fuel and take a sixty mille drive, have lunch and come home. If its not better, report back.

No, you dont try to run the motor at 2000 RPM in drive! To check the carburetor, it needs to come off and be taken apart and cleaned. Are the plug wires all covered with oil in the loom behind the heads? If so, new loom rubbers are available from Macs, along with new wires. Are the spark plugs the correct heat range? If they are Champion plugs, toss them and put in AC, Motorcraft, or NGK. Then, adjust the rockers to .018 cold.

Try doing a can of Seafoam,1/2 down the Carb and half in the tank then a can of Restore in the oil.Did that on a 133K '91 T-Bird and it p***ed emissions with specs 1/3 of minimum requirements.

How's the valve lash on the drivers side? Any loud valve noise? Perhaps someone
" adjusted" the valves incorrectly on the left bank.

You might get a pair of valve cover gaskets and take a look in there. maybe the oil drainbacks are restricted by goop - and its flooding over some tired valve guides / umbrella seals are cooked.

When you go about putting the new gaskets on the covers, just seal them to the lids. Set them on a nice flat surface while they set-up. Getting your lids set up to adjust the valve lash won't be a bad idea anyway - the mechanical lifters probably haven't been touched in a long time.

The best fix is a 292!

But no, it just needs a severe tune up I bet. A late model distributer, and setting the valve lash is a good idea.

Oh and streetdreams,no loud noise, sounds the same on both sides. When I first got her one of the first things I did was POP the valve covers off and do a major clean in there, will POP them off again though and see what I can see.

Ok so I'm an idiot,I trusted the previous owner knew something about cars, well just looking around on my lunch hour today I decided to make sure all the plug wires were where they are supposed to be,they were MOT!!!! 5 and 6 were switched! She was cooled down by that time and when I left to go back to work, holy **** she spun the tires in first and chirped them in second! I feel like such an idiot for not checking them before,oh well. Now re-time and new plugs n wires and set the dwell and valve lash this weekend, also the new rear main and then I guess water down the carb, she'll be a new car to me! Now if only I could put dual exhaust on,I need to find the right manifold. Thanks everybody!!!!

Be real careful with that water down the carb. Little, little bit at a time. Too much and you'll hurt something real bad. Put a 1/8 hole in the cap of a pop ( Michiganian for soda) bottle and drip it in real slow. Drip, NOT squirt. May the Force be with you.
