While going through my library the other night I found a book that I had forgotten about. And I thought every one might be interested in it. Its in***led "How to build Shoebox Fords & Mercurys 1949-1954", by Rich Johnson. Its 153 pages of how tos and 50 pages of examples of cars. Many of the feature cars Ive seen and know many of the owners. These are great cars and the how tos cover suspensions and body mods and power trains. This book is a must have for any owner of 49-54 Fords. Its from Tex Smith's HOT ROD LIBRARY.
Try ebays www.half.com I have gotten some great book buys there for unreal prices in almost new condition.
I have a couple of gift cards on Amazon that I need to use. This book is incredibly tempting, but very steep in price indeed. Carnut, is it mostly black and white or color? Is it on decent quality paper? Are the How-to's step-by-step and do they lay it out in fairly easy to understand manner? Just trying to get a better feel for it before I pull the trigger. Thanks
This book is on good quality paper and in black and white. How tos are very detailed with plenty of pictures and diagrams. I'm surprised at the price. It was originally $17.95 and is from Motorbooks International.
Thanks Carnut! I'll bet it is out of print or in limited supply, thus the crazy price. It's on my wish list, so I may wait until the price drops.
I looked for this book at the publisher and finally found it on Amazon for $43 in the US and $130 in England. I guess you know what I'll be looking for at the swap meets!
I've been searching for that book! I called Tex Smith and they kind of chuckled when I asked if it was going to be reprinted....maybe because every copy I've ever seen was 75 bucks?
