I have been out of commission for a about the last 3 weeks or so . I had to have my right hand operated on . It's been giving me lots of trouble for about 4 years now and kept getting worst . So I got tired of the pain and had it finally fixed !
What happened , since I am right handed and have done work all my life in the physical since like mechanics , building houses and so on , my right had ended up with 2 cysts . One on my middle finger and the other on my hand both near the knuckles . So anytime I used anything where I had to grip and hold in my hand , it would keep hitting them . Then the pain started . Dr took x-rays and said it would be an easy operation . Well they ended up putting me totally out and when I woke up my hand was wrapped up big time . I ask what's with this .
Well the Dr. cut my hand open and found that the cysts were a lot bigger than he thought they were . The biggest problem was they were attached to my tendons ! So anytime I hit them , that would set the pain off and so on .
Anyway , I am back to typing some and using my hand more . I still have trouble holding a wrench and things like that due to where the Dr. cut my hand open . I still have lots of pain in my knuckles from the tendons being cut on . I hope that stops real soon because I have to get my 55 put back together !
So I hope to be able to be here a little more again !
I have been checking out the Ford Barn some the last couple weeks and doing a few posts BUT typing with one finger on my left hand really ****s ! So I am trying to type with 2 hands again , sometimes !
Anyway I hope I didn't miss out on too much stuff .

Damn I have something similar on my right wrist. Haven't had it checked out though, sounds like I'm better off then you were. I don't have any pain in mine unless I hit it (duh). I sent you a card to get cd have you got it yet.

Glad you back Retro Jim,have you tried any of the Talk to types? A buddy of mines swears by them,no more typing just talk and it shows up on your screen. I have talk to text on my phone and it works awesome, especially while driving. If you can't find it I can ask my friend what he uses.

Thanks to all for your kind comments !
As some don't know I am on disability due to bad lower back . 3 disc were paper thin 9 years ago so I guess they are gone now . Can't operate due to that will put too much pressure on the rest and will end up with a rid down my back ! NO THANKS ! On good pain meds that help very well about 90% of the time .
So I am working on my 55 Ford Fairlane . I am doing all the sheet metal work myself , built a new 5.0 for it with a newly rebuild C4 . I have never done interior or painted a car before or should I say yet . I am going to do everything to the car myself because I can't afford to pay someone to do it for me .
I am very good with engines and ok but learning sheet metal and welding on my own . That's coming along pretty good too . I am doing engine rebuilds and body work on the side in my garage to help fund my 2 Ford toys . so I am practicing all the body work on customers cars and everyone has been very happy with the results .
I can't wait to try my hand at painting a car when the car gets down and weather is much warmer .
Then the interior will be a big challenge to me since I have never done anything along that line before .
I have been working out again at the local GOLDS gym . Been working hard for 2 weeks now just to strengthen my muscles back up again . It's been very hard with a bad right hand so I am glad to be using the machines instead of free weight . I can't get my hand closed far enough to use a wrench or anything where I have to hand my hand closed to do it . So I am learning to do things a different way until the hand gets better . Dr. says a good month or so just to heal then I hope to us it 100% again !
Well my 2 fingers are getting tired along with me .

I am sure glad to be back home again !

Glad to see you are getting back in the saddle! Like these old Fords our parts wear out when we get older.

Good to see ya back Jim. Hope you have a full and quick recovery.
I just started back to the gym 3 weeks ago too. Here at the senior center they have a gym and the price is $15 a year, so it's something I can afford.

Good to see you on my screen, I have wondered where you were. Heal fast, brandy is your friend when the low back acts up. I learned to type with one finger on my left hand almost as I can type with one finger on my right when I had my shoulder redone.

Hey Jim, I trust all is gettin better with the hand. Just don't overdo it til you're all healed, otherwise you might do the whole exercise again. ;)

Thanks Friends ! Glad to be back !
My right hand is swollen pretty good today and the pain in my knuckles was nasty to have to wake up with early this morning ! I guess I did to much yesterday at the gym ! The problem with pain meds is due to my 3 bad disc in lower back , I am on the Fentanyl patch's of a 125 dose ! They gave me Vicodin 500 and I chewed up 2 to get some relief and did nothing at all ! So I have to just take the pain and that really does **** . Personally I am a Vodka man but don't need another habit to fix the pain in my hand !
I am typing with 2 fingers so doing better today but still can't work on my 55 which really needs to get done . I have a lot of work to complete to be able to drive her again !
