looks like a good start already. i dont think i have read of anybody putting in a nailhead for power.
Very cool. Something about a custom car with a nasty engine is always appealing. Wasn't super un-common back in the day either. Looks to be headed in the right direction, and your T looked killer
Just a small update. Im kind of p***ed the point of no return now. I dropped the front of the fenders about 3 inches to help with the look of running plymouth bumpers. I know there are a lot of mixed feelings on these things but the way I'm seeing it... I think it might just work. I think the Buick headlight doors I picked up really help with the look. Here is the masking tape and jack stand visualising A bit of cut and paste. I need to pick up some bar and steel tomorrow to work in the fender to the door. I wont be using the side lights so obviously they have been cut out to smooth in with the rest of the fender. Wish me luck... its my first time! Let me know what you think!
I think these cars need the bigger stock bumper to pull the whole front end together. But! its your car
I'm not going to lie... I totally agree with you haha. I think it will end up looking pretty cool though. Worst case I can just throw stock, or similar bumpers back on. It all started with those stupid headlight doors
I have always like the look of the Buick headlight style, the way the shape is coming together,a '54-55 Kaiser Manhattan Grille(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwVUeQvzbqU&feature=related ) would be a nice match which has similar headlights.
Finding one could be a challenge but I would guarantee you would never be accused of having a "copy cat" theme, an early 50's Nash grille may work too.Post a pic of that Nailhead under the hood.
there is actually one on ebay right now of all places!! 250 bucks!! maybe its not the real deal? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-KAISER...Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1054 im picking the nailhead up sunday, which is why the front end looks so high up right now. once its here i will make sure to get pictures up
since your are going to this much time and effort, i say buy the kaiser grill and build away. maybe somebody here who draws or can do photoshop can give you an idea of what it would look like.
This is the other I had in mind http://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-NASH-S...ries&hash=item3a6e412dd8&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_967 or this: (picture it mounted upside down) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Westin-Gril...ies&hash=item4cfe8b49c5&vxp=mtr#ht_1366wt_948 That Kaiser grille seems kind of pitted so would probably need rechrome ($$$) might look on www.hemmings.com cl***ifieds the Nash grille looks pretty good driver condition. You might send skoh73 a pm with a pm and have him do a photoshop for you.
