One thing I have heard is the turning radius is not as good as it should be...

sounds cool. taurus racks are rear steer. most m2 kits are now using 82-88? t-bird racks which are front steer. and yes i can read it better now, lol. let me know about your current steering gear set up. most the rack kits you see for rear steers are using a cavalier rack

Cavalier or Barreta rack is what to use. If you get the GT model, it's fewer turns lock to lock (quicker ratio)

My dad (No Plan) & I just installed a cavalier powered rack on my 54 w/ air bags still using the stock a-arms/front stub, its not driveable yet but it seems to work. The exhaust outlets vs. the steering rod (shaft from column) is a beotch to get to fit though, but i'm running 2.5" tubes though

Jim, doin one on my 56 wagon, and made my own mounts rather than buying them (dutch) With the Cavalier/Baretta rack, the ends are stationary, and the centre moves. Used the arm that goes from the box to the idler arm, and cut both ends off just outside of where thearms that go to the steering arm, and made up a piece of flat steel with holes at the proper spacing for the R&P, and welded it to centre . Hard to explain, but if you want, I'll take some pics and send them to you.

I had a rack and pinion in my 55 JIm, and took it out and sold it and all the hardware. My car has Granada spindles. The rack may work well on a car with spindles that have steering arms that can be removed and shortened. The turn radius on my car was unacceptable. It took two cuts to get out of my own driveway.
