Well lately there's been a lot of posts about hands on this forum so I figured I would throw another one out there...

What do you guys use to clean your hands after working in the shop? I work as a mechanic now and at the end of the day it takes a half hour of scrubbing to get my hands to be presentable and usually there's still some grease spots left. I need something thats like industrial strength but still somewhat easy to buy.

p.s.: This may be the most feminine post ever made on the HAMB....

Typically,I am not an advocate of high dollar stuff,BUT...
The Snap on Redline Hand cleaner flat out kicks ***.
and you only use a little of it(because you cut it with water.
it will even get deisel oil out from under your cuticles.

it also removes paint and thick grease.it is truly amazing.

it is also 17 dollars per half gallon.

  6. What Jerry said, also, once you get your ****beaters clean, put some moisturizing lotion on them EVERY NIGHT when you get home, it makes a huge difference

My guys swear by the Cintas hand soap. As much as it costs, it oughta work well.

Use barrier creme before you start work each day, and again whenever you have washed your hands . I use Blue Magic Invisible glove , it drys to a non greasy film and everything just washes off when you are finished . Often you don't even need any cleaner, just wash with warm water.
Printers ink and epoxy resin don't even penetrate this stuff, even acid and caustic dosen't burn , but I wouldn't intentionally imerse my hands .
The best cleaners I have used are based on citrus oils.

For grease I use a combo of Go-Jo (or equivilent) & Boraxo Powered Hand Soap. The Boraxo is gritty & I've used it on my hands & face since I was 5. It's available at Krogar.

Why do they call it reckless driving if it causes wrecks?

ZEP products makes stuff called Cherrybomb, smells like cherrys and works better then anything I've ever used. Anything with lanolin makes my hands crack, so I stay away from that. There's a bar of Lava in the shower to finish things off.

  14. For moisturizing, the best product I have found is Udderly Smooth. Originally designed for dairy cow ***s, it's available at Walgreens or CVS.

Here is the secret...cascade powdered dish shop with Ajax liquid dish soap. It has this weird chemical smell but works wonders. And make sure you wash them in the kitchen sink...your wife/mother will love you for it!
