I posted this pic on the main board vintage shots thread, can't recollect where I found it on the web. Not knowing '54s all that well but this one seems to have an odd grille and hood emblem arrangement, along with the extra guards and fog/running lights. And I can't tell what state the tags are, or even if they're US. Has anyone seen this before on other '54s?
top car looks like a california plate. well, at least to these eyes anyway. grill is a bit busy to be nice.
Could be a truck hood emblem, and the extra bumperettes can just be thrown on. Fog lights are kinda neat though
Wrong plate for a 1954, that plate is a 1956 issue. 1954-1955 had a more oblong shape. but it's a 54 car though...
Stig is right those are California 56 tags. I don't remember the exact reason, but there were a few hood emblems made with that wing thing around the Ford symbol. There was thread either here or the main board about this winged thing. I think JeffB is able to answer the reason some cars had the wings.
I'm stumped never have seen that before on a '54, there was an optional bumper guard that was tall with a crossbar connecting them.HOT ROD PRIMER moderates 1954ford.com maybe He can shed some light on this one.
Jeff,I'm not going to be able to offer much info but I think someone has added a couple of extra bumperettes on the front along with the fog lights. The plane on the hood more closely resembles that of a Chevy rather than a Ford and the crest doesn't look anything like the style I have seen before. Guys have been modifying grills for as long as the have been customizing cars,,to my untrained eye it appears that the grill has had a part of a 55-56 grill added to the 54 grill. I will post it on the '54 Ford Club of America web site and see if anyone can help identify the car. HRP
