Do you have your credit card statement or cancelled check? If so, send them a copy and then make sure they send you your hubcaps. Good luck. I had a problem with an order from Moon a couple years back and I will NEVER order anything from those clowns ever again.

Why set yourself up for more headaches? Forget about their system and take the refund.

if you really want the setup...FIRST get a full refund, THEN have them fly over and if it works, THEN give them the money, or at LEAST put the money in escrow.

With all due respect, Big Jungle Jim, their offer sounds like bullshit to me.

FWIW, I was a Moon dealer years ago, they suck, I hate 'em. They were only too eager to get my money, but after the deal was sealed they gave me a big FU.

    Moon can kiss my ass.

They want to fly over? No shit? I can't imagine they'd have made that offer to anybody and everybody. The power of the HAMB again?

It's your call Jim, but I'd be tempted to just have a full refund.

You are at the end of promises and talking my friend. FWIW - long time ago I bought some wheels through a local speed shop dealer (Canada). Kept telling me they are coming for 5 months and then told me they were in the back of the shop, but I couldn't come over to get them for a week or so (huh?). I drove over, said nothing, walked through the 3 guys at the counter, to the back of the shop (one went for me 'Hey, what are you doing', I picked up the rotary phone on the counter as if to slap him with it, so he backed off). Looked around, finally said, 'where are the wheels'. 'uh, they are not here'. Told them to give me my money now - I waited there with the other 2 guys while one guy went to the bank and got me the cash (not enough to cover it in the till). I said nothing else the whole time and then just left (being 6'5" and 240 helps too). You need to let them know you want results NOW, and talk is no longer an option. I am relatively non-violent and fairly patient to a point, but once you are officially fucked over (and by this story's account, you are there), it is time to get it handled.

Besides, are consider that they are gonna fly over there, to fix something that they claimed they would take care of ages ago? Get this done (money back), legal or otherwise.

Keeping this at the top so they get no breathing space!

This is the best signature I've read in a long time bah ha ha

I have six locks on my garage door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock half of them. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

The Guys at Moon need more communication between the guys at the shop,
I have customers call all the time AFTER they called Moon, one of our dealers. Moon's guys always tell the customers stupid shit, "they dont make those", "we dont sell any cheater slicks" I can go on for ages...

Other then that Chico and Mikoto seem to be cool guys, I hope everything gets straightened out.

    As Forrest Gump would say,
"and thats all i have to say about that."

www.Vintagespeed.com is also a great option for injection or 97's.
Charlie Price knows his 97's and casts most parts to exact specs.. all good stuff.

Bob At moon has no record of my sale at all. He told me to re-order

"I don’t have an order from you. I checked the website and searched under your name and email address and there is nothing. You will need to re submit your order! I will try to expedite it once I have it."

This makes me nervous. instead of being out $100, I can be out $200?

    I think I may have learned a $100 lesson.

For all the cake you've shelled out, you could have set up several killer intakes.
Get your bread back, man, don't deal with these clowns again... There's tons of vintage Moon stuff out there at swap meets that won't line these jerks pockets one red cent!!

Wow, this whole thing is crazy. I can't believe you have been dealing with this for two years. I hope Chico holds to his word and makes it right for you.

I'll tell you one thing, it's great to see HAMB'ers helping other HAMB'ers in a situation like this. IF Moon doesn't fix your problem, they will lose another customer.
    Good luck Jim

Jim im sorry for the trouble you had with the system and will do whatever it takes to make it right. This customer care was un acceptable and not the norm . Arrangements have been made for me to fly out to you and set your system up in person and anything i can do to make this major screwup up to you will be done. In the short time i worked for Moon i have seen nothing but positive customer care from the owners and staff and i feel terrible that this slipped by. I do not work for Moon and Im not in control of their exchange policies but this will be made right. Chico has given me your phone # and il call you to go over the formalities before i leave . I try to give every customer the best service possible and have no excuses for this mess SORRY

Ken you should offer that service to everyone that has bought from you. I'm sure by next summer i will throw mine in the trashcan and go back to carbs.

Big Jungle Jim and his firends here have been dancing to the tune on this thread for weeks. Jim,if you don't get a flight number/help or CASH,I'd forward the whole thing to Ms Hamilton at the State level and have them go after Moon.
    Sad really.

The throttle bodies themselves aren't the problem. You can turn any carb base into a throttle body -- it's really just an "air door". The bowl area can be sicarded unless you need the choke, and then the venturi can be bored out and the smaller venturis discarded. The trick part of those Moon TBs is the machining of the bowl area to channel fuel to the injectors. I've seen a larger 2V and a couple 4V carbs converted, but the bottom of the bowl was basically cut out so the "bowl" would cover the injector. Even that looked like a lot of work! The 4V intake plenum/conversion Moon used doesn't look real efficient, but since the three carbs are mainly for looks, it doesn't matter that much. Wouldn't affect low to mid speed cruising anyway.

The problems had to be in the control portion -- there's nothing about the injectors or set-up that look to be a problem. Well, maybe one thing -- the injectors have to be sized right. The intake doesn't get hot enough to vaporize the fuel like a port injection system does, but that sprays the fuel on the back of a hot valve. A typical throttle body system works the same as the Moon setup, so as long as the injectors are sized right it should work. That's aessuming the control unit is set up properly.

That system has to be batch fire -- half or all injectors squirt a bit of fuel for every cylinder. That's where sizing comes into play. Most factory throttle body systems (or "single point" as Frod called it) use one or two large injectors rather than many smaller ones. They also run under less pressure. The Moon system looks like standard multi-port injectors. That could be a problem. The higher pressure of a port system might not work well squirted in a plenum, I'm not sure. With so many injectors, they have to have very short open times, which could be a problem. Injectors don't work well if they aren't opened long enough -- there's a minimum open time. Fuel pressure could be a problem too -- the smaller injectors have to have enough pressure to force the fuel through. Reduce pressure and they won't work right. Turbulence and velocity in the plenum is crucial as well. That plenum 4V adapter won't work real well, and might be a big part of the problem. Stick the Stromberg TBs on a real 3x2 manifold for a huge improvement. Might still have other fuel problems though.

That hand held control unit looks a LOT like a Simple Digital Systems controller. That's a reputable company with a big user base. It does require a bit of work since it's designed as a universal EFI system. It's good enough for experimental airplanes though, so it's reliable. Even if it is an SDS unit, the application can still be messed up. But if it is, and SDS admits it, they can at least give some tech support/advice as to getting it up and running. Check them out at www.sdsefi.com.

One more thing -- the article states that the adapter was hand fabricated to accomodate an installation on a Rad & Custom staffers car. Took six hours to install "a few hours" of driving and tuning, then "the motor ran better than it ever did with the standard four-barrel, as the injection provided snappier throttle response and more bottom-end torque." So they did get it running and even liked it. Sounds like there may have been some quality issues later on. There's just no reason it shouldn't work as advertised unless poor quality parts or base-line setup is all wrong.

I'm not saying you haven't had issues and it's not junk -- don't take me wrong! It just SHOULD work as described in the article, and I've already pointed out the things I'd be concerned about, plus the very real possibility of quality issues. From what I've been reading, I'd bet the unit used was thoroughly tested before being installed, and that the regular production units aren't. Many businesses like this skimp on quality control (if it exists) to keep costs down, or rather profits up.

Hi, I thought i would keep you updated on the situation so far. Ken and Chico are flying over and arriving here on friday 13th (Hope that's not an omen) to sort it out.

Just to let everyone know why i went for the 97 injection. I am running 2 rebuilt 97's on top of a supercharger but when i race i run with a holley. The 97's look the best on the engine but the holley runs the best knocking off 1 second on my 1/4 mile time compared to the 97's. So i thought i would go for the best of both worlds (looks and performance).

I will let everyone know what happens next.......

I really hope this makes Moon re-think their customer service and everyone gets a more satisfactory service from them in the future.

    Thanks to the HAMB.......Jim
