Seats outta brass? I got my brain workin the other day and I think brass bomber -style seats would be cool. You know, rivets holdin' it all together. Would match my as-cast brass windshield posts perfectly. Gay? Not gay? Expensive?....Probably.
Good idea Rockafeller, maybe you could use platinum rivets. I think this link will help you decide. http://www.metalsdepot.com/products/brass2.phtml?page=sheet&LimAcc=$LimAcc
I agree it would match. Now all you have to do is get those big brass lamp thingies for headlights and you'll have a bitchin ride. Seriously, it would be expensive... but throw in some brown leather straps and accessories and you could pull it off.
Check your local scap yards. Maybe a good deal can be had for some brass sheet. Brass rivets shouldn't be too hard to find, but you could make your own out of round stock. It souds like an idea worth pursuing.
Sounds pretty, but I dunno if I could be asked to clean them. Cuz ya know, if you don't, that tarnish will rub off on what you THOUGHT were clean jeans.
I actually looked for some copper sheets ,My whole family doesn't make enough money for me to buy them. I did find some polished stainless steel though.
What about copper plating? An industrial shop I hang out at needed some copper peices to restore an old machine. They took it to the chrome plater in Hazel park (mi.) and they did it...Wasn't really exspensive either.
To match the color of my eyes?! Oh gosh! Wouldn't be able to tell the difference from my ass and my face....not that you can much now. Now wouldn't brass plating be REALLY heavy? What about a quick lesson by Martha on doing a FAUX brass paint look to them? I mean I REALLY love the color of brass, but think the real thing would be WAY too much up keep for me.
Green is my favorite eye color... The surface of the seats would discolor where they aren't used... but be polished (and probably) scratched where used most. Which, with Pete would be a skinny little strip. I hope the clasps on the rainbow suspenders don't scratch too bad. I really think this is a cool idea... weathered brass and leather.
Are them lamps or BALLS ..If it was me id get the giant size brass BALLS to go with the seats.. The you would be the MAN............. Dave
BALLS you say. Well this Michigan winter weather could freeze the balls off a brass monkey. So find out where in Flint the brass monkeys hang out and after the next cold night go over a collect the balls that fell off. Before spring you should have enough
Probably pretty expensive just so you can ..."Wrap Your ass in Brass" Couldn't resist..................
Trying to put some BLING on the Beater? Use aluminum and rivet with brass get the best of both world's. Or better yet buy fiberglass seats and paint with brass paint. (sorry couldn't resist) Funny.............Monkey's........That's hilarious.
Maybe some brass plated steel frames with woven leather "cushions". There must be some platers that do brass, look at all the gawdy-ass plumbing fixtures at the home centers.
Isn't it copper that oxidizes green? My '51 Navy is brass and it just gets, well, cloudy looking? It's expensive now? Funny how during the War of Yankee Aggression, the Confederates used brass in place of iron, because they couldn't get iron (too expensive). But then again, after seeing iron prices lately... Geez! Would look cool though. Jay
