I posted this on the main board already, but trying here too.
I'm putting a 390fe in a 56 Victoria. I have a clearance problem with ps pump hitting upper A-arm. Can't move pump. Don't want move engine forward, radiator issues. I need a different style pump, or remote sump that will adapt. Any suggestions?

  2. The traditional police might string you up for it , but have a look at Japanese 4x4/suv and light comercial stuff . I used one from a Isuzu 4x4 when I did a power steer conversion on a clients '60 F100 . Nice compact pump ( about the size of a closed fist ) and a remote resavoir .

Another good small pump with a nice remote resevoir is the Ford ******s from the late 90's and up.

The early FE's had a higher P/S pump and a remote reservoir that may help you. Check out a '63 Merc P/S setup.

Here is a picture of a 390 FE installed in a '56 Merc. The engine '68 390 with '63-'64 Eaton pump bracket, pump and pulleys. I also used '58 Ford motor mounts in this install. Hope this helps!
