I've pretty much decided to remove the Lincoln 5.0 HO engine and transmission from my '54 Merc and go with an old-school Chevy instead... Do I have your bloodpressure up yet...? Yup. I've been thinking long and hard and I'm just too traditional to go with a computerized motor in an early custom, so the HO's gotta go! Call me old-fashioned...
What would be the problem of switching out the intake and throttle body for a regular intake and carburetor? HRP
My brother had a Lincoln Mk VII with a 302 LSC motor that would eat Chevy 350's for breakfast. The new LS serries may be another matter though. They are very fast, and get great mileage as well.
Went Carb on mine,so did rustyfords EZ to do.Need the parts? Here you go!http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=29885 Just sold the Offy still have the Edelbrock,Ford is just as traditional the SBF has been around since '62.
"HOTRODPRIMER What would be the problem of switching out the intake and throttle body for a regular intake and carburetor? HRP" Thats what I did. Mine is out of an 85 Town Car. I put a carb and intake on it and it runs and sounds great. But It's your's so do what you want.
One of the things that I love most about old cars is that they DON'T have computers. They can be way more of a pain than they are worth.
The 5.0 I built for my 55 , I am using a Torker intake with a Holley 570 Street avenger . I have built many 5.0 and use carbs all the time . So why would you change over to a SBC ? If you want more power just send me a PM and I will be ha[[y to tell you what to use ! I can get all the HP from a 5.0 you want without a stroker kit ! Jim
That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Like all Fords are only fuel injected. What a tard. Why would you even post this up other then to show people how stupid you are??
FordsbyJay- I would ask you the same question. You may want to mosey on back to the big board where you can name-call with the other small minds. This group doesn't put up with that mess.
