Hey gang, I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Gary (or "Church"). Im a 29y/o male from Pittsburgh, PA. I recently purchased RockabillyKat666's '55 Fairlane from him and he made mention to join the group because you guys have quite a bit of knowledge regarding these Fords. I had a '54 Mainline for a short period before selling it and buying a house, but thanks to Rockabilly Kat, Im back with a solid runner to take the family out in and log some miles. Look forward to shootin' the chit with you guys... www.facebook.com/NitroFord2c
Welcome to the group from Abbottstown , Pa. ! So you are the guy who bought Johnny's car ! You got a good buy . I have seen the car a few times before and I know what all he has done to it too . He really hated to sell the car but the family comes first ! her wagon will be better for the family and to haul band instruments in as well ! Are you coming to the Showdown ? Jim
I did hate to see the 55 fairlane go but i'm moving on to a bigger project..the 55 Ranch wagon. welcome aboard Gary "DirtLateModel2c" first thing i would do is look for the "Sticky" page we have which lists all the aftermarket parts that'll fit in our cars..
Thanks guys! I completely understand about hating to get rid of a ride that means a lot to you. Been down that road a couple times, with race cars and street pieces. I certainly did get a good deal on the car, just gonna put the personal tocuhes on it, ****on a few things up and run 'er ***! haha @Retro Jim: I wont be at the Showdown, the wife is getting her gal bladder removed the 17th and someone has to be around to watch the little one. Would like to go back though, havent been to the showdown in a couple years.
@ Rockabillykat666: Been working on it since we got 'er home. New shocks, swaybar links and bushings, new upper control arm bushings. Lowered the alternator and aligned the pulley, lowered the radiator and redid the battery box and tie-down. Now Im kinda just gonna get the interior pieces I need together. Replace the weather stripping, fix the wing windows, that sorta thing. My main deal is to keep 'er on the road while dad (TChurch) and I are working on her.
that alternator was a headache..i tried 3 different brackets and none of them really lined up how i wanted it. i'd like to see how you lowered the rad..
I'll post some pix, its not that the rad was sitting high really, but it helped with the lower rad hose alignment. The alternator, we modified a bracket we had from a Ford pickup with a Windsor and added a support bracket for it. It worked out well.
