I know I have seen a thread on this somewhere (here or on the main board), but for the life of me can't find it with the search function.

I'm looking for a tail light that will pretty much "bolt on" to my 1955 Customline. I know Merc wagon lights will work but my dad is going to run them on his '56 and I want to be a little different with my build. I seem to recall there was a round light from a Fairlane or Falcon that pretty much went right in. Are there other options out there? Would love to see some pictures if anyone has some.

    Thanks

I put 60 Dodge taillights on a 55 Crown a few years ago, slight modification to the mounting area. I also have seen 59 and 60 Buick lights on 55 and 56s.

I finally found the picture I had seen once before. I believe they are '64 Fairlane lights.

Does anyone know if '62 Galaxie lights will fit on the '55/'56's?

I was looking thru some pics of cars at shows I've gone to over the last few years, saw this Meteor. Looks like a '52-'54 but thought the tail lights to be interesting:

Here's a '55 at the same show, this is the only pic of it I have that shows the tail lights:

And then there was this '56:

    I think this is a '52 - not sure:

Ron, that Meteor is a 52 with stock taillites. The 53/54 are same as Fords.

I have a nice set of Chrome Tail lights that are round and bolt right in . They are from a 60 or 61 Dodge . They will stick out about 5" . I saw one like that before . Just something different . I also have the same cross bar hubcaps as the ones the 55 has above .

I have always wanted the Merc Wagon Taillights. But I am a few years off from needing those. :(

These tail light treatments used to be a favorite mod for 50's Fords. I found a couple of examples of the 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix/Seneca/Pioneer tail lights that Jim mentioned above...

I found a pair of the housings - but does anyone have a lead on getting some decent lenses? For starters I was just going to use the Dodge stocker parts - but wow - not cheap to come by at all.

This is the first time I have seen the Dodge tailight, looks real good. The 56 wagons look good too, but man, the $$$ is steep for the housings. Someone is repopping the lenses for the wagons.

These are the ones I have for my 55 that I am going to use . They are really super nice too . Got them from a guy here on the HAMB . He gave them to me for a really low price because that was all I had . He told me he would sell them to me BUT he never wants to see them anyplace forsale ! I PROMISED him I would never do that and if it was time to part with them , he would have first grabs at them for the same price he sold them to me .
I think I even have the back up lights too someplace . I know I have the lenses and wiring but not sure about the frames . If not I will be looking for a nice pair to match the Dodge tail lights .
