I just got the air cleaner (gennie Cad, NOT aftermarket repop) for the Buick back from friend and striper Ken Smith (Fly'n Kolorz here on the HAMB) and wanted to share it with y'all. The striping and artwork is pure cl***!

I'd asked him for something kinda OEM-ish, but personalized. He came through in spades! (The car's name is "Nuthin' Special" and the logo on the air cleaner is a hand-painted duplicate - complete with chrome effects - of the badges on the quarter panels.)

    Thanks, Ken! You're the man!

Nice one, it really looks period. Semi/flat finish, correct and did you remove the oilbath innards and put a paper filter in it?

I also have an original air cleaner from a '56 Olds on my Fairlane. It's solid black but am thinking of doing something similar to what you've got. I like!

Yup. This one's from a Caddy, with the oil bath innards discarded. It's not round, but more oval and is offset to the rear, covering the HEI - you know the thingie with all the wires that's in the back on a Chevy - between the cowl vent plenums. A very nice fit on this car, looks like it was made for it.

Yes, there are some very nice repops available now that are almost impossible to distinguish from the gennie parts - and are a lot cheaper. I had this one powder coated because I wanted it to be durable and to give Ken a good surface to work with.
