I'm just about to wash the Buick and get it ready for the weekly cruise night here in Ft. Worth. It's a ritual preparation that I rarely miss. I was kinda wondering how many members of this group have a weekly event of this type to look forward to? I wash the car, take a shower, make myself beautiful and then head out early to get a good spot in the parking lot - preferably one with shade! We get anywhere from 100 in the winter to well over 300 in the spring and fall when the weather is balmy here at "Little Road" in Ft. Worth. Summer? Well, we still get a good crowd, but most arrive later when it's cooled off a mite. There are several fast-food resturants within walking distance, a great barbeque place across the street and a nearby Hooters with really great food. We eat (most of us "seasoned citizens" chow down on food that's really bad for us...), then drag out the lawn chairs and the tall stories until the crowd begins to thin out around 10pm and it's time to go home. Lots of "civilians" with their families come for the free car show - a mixed bag, but mostly hot rods, customs and restored muscle cars and '50s cl***ics. It's amazing how little the younger generation knows about our American automotive heritage, especially about hot rods and modified cars of all types. We indoctrinate them as well as possible, trying to counter the media-spun political correctness of air bags, flex-fuel and hybrids... We car guys love the Friday night excesses of high-calorie, high grease-content food and high-horsepower, high-style automobiles...and lying about how fast we were as "yout's"... I rarely miss it...
Where I live you can find a "cruise in" 7 nights a week, within a 20 mile radius. I try to go to one or two. Paul Selfe.

Cruise season is wrapping up this time of year in Phoenix temps of 100-115 kinda takes the fun factor away, there are a few die-hards that go for it but the main season here is October to April. Will hit the swap meet tomorrow as it opens at 5:00 AM when it's mid 70's but it will hit 100 by 11:00.
missysdad have you gone to the thursday night little show at roscoes bbq in burleson? i went the second week and it was a lot of muscle cars but nice guys. Then my head gaskets blew and i re designed the whole cooling system but now im back on the road.

When i am at school in reno i go to the weekly Wednesday night cruise in at A&W but ow that i am home for summer back in placerville there is one every other thursday at a tiny little old mom and pop frosty that has a pretty good turn out for the size of the town. and then a little ways down the road i go to one in old folsom every wednesday but it is starting to get political. . .
Small towns in about a 40 mile circle of me have cruise nights once a month, one town the first Saturday, another the second, and so on. Yesterday I did a benefit car show here in town, home to wash off bugs, a cruise in with free hot dogs last night 40 miles away, and today a club meeting. When we meet, we eat.
Since Scott put together the members map have any of you used it to meet up with other members? It would really be cool if we could have some pictures with folks and their rides posted.
Several of us around this area (southeast MI) usually make it to the local Thursday night cruise-in/sit-ins. We don't have the greasy burgers (maybe we can get Eric to make a delivery for us? ) but do have a hot-dog vendor & DJ. The show usually gets between 50-80 cars every week, no restrictions on year, type, etc. Just a good time. I'll have to dig out some pics to post.
There is a cruise in within 20 miles of me every Saturday and sometimes as many 3 the same night. HRP
We have a cruise at the local Big Boy every two weeks or so. This Friday is one. There's usually a couple of 1950s Fords that show up - including my friend madscience's grandfather's gorgeous '55 or '56 Merc.
we have 1 or 2 everyweekend in my area, small town get togethers with usually the same folks showing up. different venues each week, but they all rotate between a wendys, white castle, arbys and dq. i have dubbed them the liars club as there usually are some tall tales. all makes/models are welcome, but usually nothing later than early to mid eighties. no camaros/mustangs, but everything from t's to cutl***'s.
