Has anyone put a 3 point front seatbelt in a 56? I have no desires to lose a bunch of teeth on all that steel. I seen Julianos has some universal ones as well as a couple other places on the www. but I was curious as to feedback.

    Thanks,

I'm interested as well. Planning shoulder belts, but don't have a full plan how to do it yet.

My car is a post so it seems like it shouldn't be too hard but things that shouldn't be too hard always bite you in the ****.

I remember seeing a thread about this on the main board, it was a 50s sedan but I don't remember if it was a Ford or not. I seem to recall they were Limeworks belts.

Basically the guy welded in a mount to the B pillar for the belt. It looked rather involved...

I would get a three point setup out of a convertible like a late model Mustang. Attach the third point to the top of the door jamp like in the convertible.

I have thought about using a factory system but would like something new for safety reasons.

The product from Juliano's is great quality, easy to work with, and works. A while back someone had a link right to Juliano's on how to install them. My car is a 55 post. I removed the grab handle from each post. I welded up a larger nut clip to go in place of the factory nut clip. I enlarged the hole in the rear window moulding, and screwed it all together. Not as easy to grab from behind your shoulder, and prabably not as strong as a modern car. But at least if I get in a terrible wreck, my carc*** will stay with the car.

Then if you have a front end collision all you have to worry about is the famous "deadly spear"

I got regular lap belts for my 55 6 years ago but I am really considering on buying new 3 way for mine now . Mine is a fordor so I have plenty of room to weld the top bolt for a 3 way belt . I have plenty of time before I get that far but good point to consider if your car has a good post to weld to !
Let us know how it turns out when you do yours .

Jeff I picked up a Borgeson Steering box last week so when I change it out I am going to go to a collapsable stearing column.

Jim I'll definitely take some pics when I do it. I've been so busy at work lately I have not had much car time. I did manage to get my vent windows finished and ordered some new gl***. I was thinking a great time to do it might be when I have the rear windows out. Hopefully it might free up a bit of room to snake the top mounting plate in the B pillar. Not sure though....
