1952-59 Ford so i'm a little worried..

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Rockabillykat666, Jul 25, 2012.

  1. i was checking out my 55 customline parts car's windshield which i plan to use on the 55 ranch wagon and i measured both windshields..and it seems like the customlines is about a 1/4" bigger top to bottom..hopefully this is just a matter of how the the rubber and trim was installed..but DID they make different size windshields for these cars? the gl*** is the main reason i bought the customline..

  2. I didn't think they did ( other than the lower Victoria ) and sure hope that sedan and wagon are the same as I have a brand spanking new screen in a crate here that is waiting to go in Michelle's ranchwagon

Rocky , not sure if they are the same or not . I think they would have been all the same for that year . If it's just a little on the top & bottom , then have a gl*** guy cut it down for you . As long as the curve is the same the extra cab be cut off .
So how is her wagon coming along ?
Are you coming down to the Invitational this Saturday at Latimore ?

I think most '55&'56s are same except the Victorias, Crown Vics (body style 64_) and Sunliners (body style 76_).

According to the parts book the only other choice is clear or tinted.

  5. that's what i thought.. good.. i will be sweating bullets when i pull the good windshield. here's another question, which do you guys think will be easier: Pulling the door gl*** and swapping? or swap doors? my wagon's driver side window is cracked and the parts car door gl*** is perfect.

  7. @ Jim: I'm not really doing a whole lot with it right now..just a lot of prep work and slowly buying what i need and getting rid of things i don't. i just got a decent fender with a little bit of rot which i cut out and made a patch..came out decent for welding with flux core. until i get the ba*****t of my barn finished i'm doing a lot of this stuff outside. once inside i'll mig everything.

This years Showdown was the biggest and best yet ! The invitational was yesterday and was good as well but bad storms pounded us good with heavy rain , lighting and hail around 1 pm .
I still have to get the new engine and trans installed , rewire the car , new drive shaft , finish all the body work , paint the car . I got the engine running and cam broke in today . Now I need to install the inner springs on the valves , then adjust them and change the oil and filter . Then the engine is done ! Yea it's still a lot of work to get done but will drive it there next year I hope !
