Not being one to Jinx deals, havent mentioned this yet, but now tickets are paid for, car is half paid for, so i figure its safe.

Always liked shoeboxes, and apart from fourdoors, they are pretty rare over here, especially coupes. anyways...this thing comes up for sale on the hamb, and i just kinda mentioned i liked it to a Hamb friend over there..next thing i know PMs are back and forth ..then emails..then phonecalls...and a bit of half ****d bargaining later, Ive agreed to buy a car 5000 miles from me...something i always tell others not to do!!

It belongs to Hamber TP and is in Texas, and he has been fantastic to deal with, looking forward to meeting him!

So I fly into LA on the 9th of Jan, then straight over to texas to pick the car up, then a lesuirely drive back to LA ,via wherever (any suggestions on things to drop in on Between Houston and LA gladly accepted!) then some time in Cali, drop it off at the shippers in LA on about the 22/23rd and fly home and wait patiently for my ride to turn up .
My idea of a perfect Holiday.
Actually what is makin it perfect is my tour guide and travellin pardner..who has a lot of insider Knowledge and will no doubt fill the long desert miles with LOTS of conversation..and fun. you all know this person well and no doubt some of you will be jealous........

So anyone who is along this route, or in LA or elsewhere in Cali and would consider entertaining a foreign brother...let me Know.First stop will be Austin...hope the continental club happens midweek!

Ben, going to be a pleasure to have you and **********. I'll pick you up at the airport. Don't eat on the plane. I'll take you to a Texas steak house. TP

Sounds like it's gonna be one wicked road trip. Enjoy the sights and all the good old USA has to offer. Milk every town dry, leave no stone unturned and you and your travelling companion have one hell of an adventure.

Too bad you will miss the SF Rod and Custom show. I hope you make it up North for a visit before you head home! I've spoken with your guide on this matter. Many HAMBR's in the Sf Bay area for you to meet.

There is so much cool stuff to see in that area. You can check out the grand canyon, drive parts of the original rt. 66, head over the Hoover dam and check out Vegas. I had a great time doing all that and more with my wife and son on a 9500 mile trip from RI to CA and back in August.

  15. You better keep your tour guide happy Lowsquire. Your guide and I had a discussion; something about you fitting in the trunk. I don't know but getting air in to you was dicussed. :D

I always enjoy hearing about stories like this, hope you post a daily log of the trip on the HAMB. If you have time try to tour through southern Utah, Arches National Part and the Delicate Arch are well worth the hike. Have fun!:)

  18. Awesome looking car, hope you & your guide have many happy miles in the car together before going your own ways at the docks!!

Here's my suggestions, hope ya like 'em.

This will be a fun trip. As you probably know, the Grand national Roadster Show is in Pomona. The Von Hot Rod pinstriper reunion will be there on the 21st. Might be cool to have one of the famous stripers there lay some lines on the car. Definetely go to the Nethercutt. They might find a way to add you guys to a tour of San Sylmar, seeing as Ben is here from Oz. Look at this www.nethercuttcollection.org/

Of course, there's the Petersen, Justice Bros, NHRA Museum, Buck's Crystal Palace, lunch at Phillippe's in downtown LA (if you don't know about Phillippe's you REALLY need to go, it's where the French Dip sandwich was invented).

OOPS! I see that the Ford is already pinstriped. Maybe do the dash or sumpin'.

Definetely see a lot of music when in Austin. If you can, check out Sarah Elizabeth Campbell and the Banned. Let me know how long you'll be in Austin and I can ask Sarah what's playing. Also check out Slaid Cleaves when there. One of my new faves.

Good show! We did just the opposite. Bought a Roller in London. Flew to london, ****ped around for two weeks, went by old airfield that I took off from in WWII. Took '65 SCIII to the dock and shipped to LA. Lotsa fun in UK. Good luck on trip. You will adore Tejas. Lived there looong time.

  25. Here is a few things in Jan.
    8 long Beach Swap
    6-15 LA auto show
    15 Pomona Swap
    20-22 Grand National Roadster Show
    28-29 Turlock Swap
    Check out SoCalCulture.com for others.
What I understand it cost the same to ship a empty car as one with the trunk (bonnett or what ever it is there)and interior full. So you might check out the swaps or make some other deals whill your here. Make a list of what you need and post it here, you may just get lucky. And on a last note you must remember the sheep here are not accustom to man handling so, well you know better than I what to do. Useless

  26. Oh yea, there is always just come over to the shop BS and drink till you puke.
