I bought 90 model aerostar springs for my 53, from the descriptions on here it was supposed to make a 2 to 3 inch drop. I think it is closer to 4 1/2 to 5" I am going to have to put lowering blocks under it to make it look decent. I ordered 90 mod aerostar with 4.0 the springs look at least 5" shorter than the stock ones does any one know if this sounds about right? Tony
There are tons of pictures of before and afters with the Aerostars the spring rate or amount of compression is the difference not the original height, your drop will be about 3" after they settle. The cornering and handling will be better after you get them in,also for shocks your best match are the KYB part # KG4503
I put 90 aerostar springs under my 56 2 dr. and it lowered the front bumper 3 in. Don't go by the height of the spring, compare the wire thickness to your stock springs, aerostars are heavier. Rides better too. Put new shocks on while you're at it. Paul Selfe.
I had two coils cut from my 53 Ford and when I replaced them with Areostar springs it was the same as it was . I even sat them side by side on the floor and they were the same heigth at 12". But the best part was the improvement in ride and handling!
i bought my 53 and it already had aerostar springs, i cut a coil and a half out of those and i was sitting on the bump stops and the springs were still loose, whoops. a quick trip to autozone and i cut a half a coil out of those and now it sits great. over the past 5 months since i did it they have settled about 3/4 of an inch.
