Hello all. I'd like to start off by saying thanks for allowing me to join! Born and raised in San Diego, CA. I am very excited about learning the ins and outs of the traditional customs world. I'm fairly new to this whole thing. I've got some sort of mechanical know how but not much. Owning a cl***ic car has always been the one thing I wanted to accomplish, and now the opportunity has risen.

Recently I traded my little truck for a 1956 4dr Ford Customline with the original 292 Y-Block. It does need a little love though. The guy before me did some things here and there, some bondo, lowered a bit, converted to 12v, 4bbl Edelbrock Carb, some shotty wiring, new cokers, some sort of frenching of the headlights, and some DIY engineering complete with a beer keg for a gas tank ratchet strapped in there for safety:D

Ive made somewhat of a list to start my project.
-Fix wiring so I have lights, turn signals and brakes
-Needs a new windshield(thing looks like it had rocks thrown at it)
-new wiper motor and wipers for winter
-havent decided on door gl*** yet would like to get some opinions
-other options for that keg in the trunk. maybe a mustang gas tank or something.
    -New radiator
-some metal work in trunk. behind the back seat you can see straight to the pavement.
    -misc. interior ideas.
-work this somewhere in the mix: either find a rebuilt 292 y block, rebuild mine, or get a rebuilt small block. Havent decided yet

Will post updates as my project comes along over the next couple years. Trying to make this thing my daily driver.

Mustang tanks make the most sense. A 292 would be rad!

Sounds like a solid plan, stoked to see progress

Hey there, welcome. You know, I think I saw you drive by me the other day. I'm in San Diego as well, live in La Mesa. I've got a pretty good stash of spare parts going you can root through if you'd like. I'm in the middle of rewiring my 55, hopefully starting it up this weekend. Stay in touch!
