How about a HA/GR Jr. with an 'A'-bone banger? OK maybe not competitive, but I've got an extra laying around. I have an extra '40 85 h.p. flathead that was running when pulled, but again it's a small cubic inch V8, so not the best for a drag car. But I know all the Early Ford V8 club guys, so there may be some good post-war flatties around the area to be had. Late January sounds good for a meet up to me.

I hope to hell you guys have the balls enough to run a flathead V8. Happy New Year, from the Speed Merchants!

I got a call from JD this weekend. Looks like he is interested too. Hope everyone had a good New Year and stayed safe. Looking at a calendar it appears that Saturday the 21st would be a good candidate. I am leaning torwards meeting at BBs Lawn Side BBQ or maybe Boulevard Brewing Headquarters in Kansas City. Both are great places and have the room. That way if there is bad weather we wont have to cancel. Guessing maybe early afternoon around 3ish or so. Give me some feed back on this. I will call both places today. Wow, frames, front ends, engines, wheels, skills, tools, I don't see how we wouldn't be able to get a HA/GR built. Keep tuned people!!

Should we start a different thread or a "Yahoo Group" for the KC HA/GR buildup?

I've been thinking about the V8 flathead - there's a 337 in the classifieds fairly cheap - might be able to get BenD to haul it back to KC, but haven't seen any performance parts for the 337" flathead being reproduced. Biggest thing would be to get a set of heads for it - the rest can be fabbed up (intake, headers, etc.) It's got a tranny too!

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85993

Anyone else have a line on a more common 255" flathead?

I've got everything to bend and weld up the rollcage for the chassis. I haven't seen a 'traditional' rod that I'd feel safe in - I'm thinking more of a full-on roll cage with a halo or a driver's compartment similar to the 9.90 cert chassis but with less bars..

Well, I found out BB's is closed on Tuesdays so couldn't get any info on them. Boulevard Brewing can't efficiently accomodate our group, BUT 75th Street Brewery can. They have good atmosphere, good beer, good food and they brew right there on the premises so if you have never seen a brewery now you can. I tentatively reserved a spot for that Saturday at 3pm, I can call back if this isn't good for most of you and cancel so please let me know.

here is a link to their site, it has location as well

    Well, let me know.......................................
edit: a new post about the K.C. HA/GR might be a good idea with a link from this one to that, start it now or after the meeting. I'll let someone run with it...

I don't think we need to worry about a 9.90 cert in this project...
unless they loosen up the rules and let us use my hemi...

Are we still talking about the 21st?

tantara2001, you're going to have to ride with me to be allowed entrance to this shindig. Your bug is cool but too new...:D

By the way, the guy at 75th Street Brewery got a little excited when I told him who we were. He said "so our parking lot will be full of neat old hot rod cars huh?" I said there would probably be a few...........

Wasn't thinking that heavy, but something with 2 'hoops' over the driver - one angled down towards the front and one straight up along the back of the seat and then some tie bars inbetween - if it flipped on it's lid there's a better chance of walking away without injury... I wrecked in the race car last year and walked away and respect good safety equipment now more than ever...

Engine options and tires are definately going to limit ET's...

Ok then, it's official and I won't change the reservation for Saturday the 21st of January at 75th street Brewery Restaurant at 3 pm, or there about. Call me if you need some directions or whatever. I think I might make a new post with a different title to maybe catch the attention of some people that might have missed this. Hope to see everyone there!

I'm a VERY new member to the H.A.M.B. I live out in Blue Springs, and just started working on my first car and have tons of questions for the more experienced people in the area.
