Ask Santa to put these under your tree:http://www.yourcovers.com/valve_covers_8357-7.php or keep the hood closed :D Just kidding, we love Ya anyway! A while back we had a member with a 500 Cadillac swap about double the torque of an SBC 350 and only 60 more pounds of weight.

I don't know why you chevy boys have to start these threads other then to just piss off Ford owners. Why don't you just buy a Chev if you want to drive a Chev.

Whatever floats your boat. My dad called this "cross dressing". How come you never hear of putting a ford engine in a chevy?

The sad thing about the 350/350 swap is it has become so common that it has become boring,I have noticed at cruises and shows people seem to have the "Ho,Hum" look and just keep walking they may look at the car but do not pay much attention to what is under the hood.Put something different under the hood and people notice and take the time to check it out,"back in the day" guys were stuffing Caddys and Olds and Buicks and MOPARS under the hoods of Fords and it was cool but that was a time when good old American innovation ruled, today taking the EZ way out seems to be the norm.Bottom line is "it's your car,do it your way" and enjoy it!

How many Chev engines and transmissions will bolt right in? The Windsor does, and it goes from a 221, to a 351 stock, or a 392 built 351. Then the Y blocks all bolt in, from 239 to 312, or 342 or 352 for a built one. Then the FE motors all bolt in from 332 to 428, or 454 built. Then the 429/460, or 514 or larger built. All those different motors bolt in. Why bother with something as belly ****on as a Chev, and you have to change stuff to make it different?

i have my asbestos underwear on (just checked). why not be really different and put a german v8 in one (innnnnnncomingggggggggg). or a mopar ;)

just kidding all. dont want to be banned from the group. besides, all those chevys have the distributor on the wrong end of the motor. maybe those were motors that ford decided had a design flaw and pitched?

I don't get it either but I'm not paying for others' cars so guess i don't have to. And I really don't care what others do with their cars since I'm not financing 'em.

But - how many reasons have we heard about why it's done? Again I don't care but - just sayin'. What I really don't get is some trying to cover 'em up with those fake Ford covers.? Maybe this is where DADT kicks in? But wouldn't it be kinda like taking the pretty prom queen on a date, only to find out later that 'she' doesn't p*** the Crocodile Dundee gender check.

I have nothing against any manufacturer, I've driven many of them - Chevies (powered by Chevy), Buicks (powered by Buick), Plymouths & Dodges (yup, MoPowered), heck I've even had a Toyoter or 2. . . :) So I'm not a hater of any of them.

I guess this nearly-as-old debate is about as inconclusive as political and religious arguments so we agree to disagree, eh?

Recently I visited relatives on the west coast and attended 3 different shows in the Vancouver B.C. area. The sbc's in a (fill in the blank) seem almost to be a cult thing out there as nearly every (not all) street custom or whatever you call 'em - had one. *SNORE* I was very careful not to drink any Kool Aid while out there:rolleyes: But to make reference to another orifice - it's just my opinion and of course everyone has one of them too:D

    I have one, 283 chevy with a 4 barrel edel brock carb and a 350 ******.
I had overheating problems at first, but with a shroud from summit racing, a 3 inch spacer, and a 17" steel fan, is keeps it running much cooler and better. The only time i even got close to over heating at all this summer was in a hot august nights cruise.
But when it comes to carbs, i really wish i would have gone with the 3x2 set up. It always looks cool and its totally traditional

went to a local swap meet a few years back and saw a mid 60's El Camino with a flat head V8 in it; me and my buddy got a big laugh! Guys probably stuck Ford flat heads into early Chevys before the advent of the SBC so it all comes out in the wash. But if I were gonna stick another brand in mine? HEMI BABY!!

i think with most builds, you just work with what you have. get a good deal on a car/truck, you got the engine/trans lying around that you are tired of tripping over, put em together and enjoy.

Take the easy way out and put in a Chevy! Easier to get parts, you don't have to use your brain to search for anything! You know this isn't even worth taking the time to write about!

yep, a chevy truck powered by a Ford Y block -going for LSR at Bonneville. Check it out.... to each his own. Now let the fireworks fly. That must be what we are after anyway, seeing as how this whole thread started out by trolling....lol

I wouldn't do it myself, but the '54 ragtop in this ad has made me consider how it might work.
