1952-59 Ford Is this molding application unusual?

    On a '52? I'm not too familiar with them and don't recollect seeing that lower window trim before except on a few '56 Fairlanes & Mercs. I found this pic on the 'net awhile back, not sure where it was from.

    Looks like it was added on from a '55 Crown Vic or a Merc Montclair..

    I am pretty sure this trim is on the Ford and Mercurys that had the glass roofs .... someone has added it to this car... imho

    1955-56 Mercury Montclair. It has also been shortened. That was popular back in the day. I believe they only came on the Mercury and not the Fords. As I take a second look it has probably not been shortened but has been mounted below the door handle, on the Mercury the front chrome strip went to the door handle and the rear strip went from the rear of the handle thus making it longer. Then it went from the front of the wing window to the rear of the quarter window.
