1952-59 Ford Horn ring removal 59 mercury ?

I have the steering wheel and column out of a 59 merc... I can't figure how to get the horn ring off. Doesn't want push in and twist like my 56 ford... any sugestions? I want to save the wheel don't care about the column

 

Somebody has got to have pulled a 59 Merc horn ring, please help!

 

If It is Like a Ford You Just push it down and turn it counter clockwise and it should just come right off. Be sure to unhook the battery or the horn will blow!!

 

I just found out it in not like a Ford. Twist the horn ****on and remove it. This gives access to the steering wheel nut. The ONLY way to remove the horn ring is remove 3 screws after the wheel is removed. Hope this helps someone.
