Vintage Auto Design Drawings? maybe Janne?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by nate, Jan 1, 2006.

  1. Does anyone out there have any scans of some old car design drawings? I've got a little project and I'm looking for some inspiration..

    Something along these lines:

I think Janne's work is pretty close, but I'm also looking for something sketchier, like the old charcoal/pastel drawings. Any help is appreciated.

Charcoal and pastel? That's really going back there.

This one I did in '86

The bubble skirt job is recent, black marker with photoshop "pastels".

Knucklehead job is drawn on vellum, black line printed from it, and actual pastels smeared with cotton pads over that.

  5. Mike, those are nice. I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for.. something old, classicly styled. What the drawings looked like when they were styling the big fin cars in the 50's maybe... I'm not sure..

    I love white-on-black renderings.
This was was by a very young Bill Mitchell when he first applied to GM to become a stylist.
It was on the cover of Automobile Quarterly, Third Quarter, 1983.

Wouldn't this knock 'em dead at Pebble Beach or Paso Robles today?
