Hello All, I am hoping that someone can help decode the vin number on my 1954 Customline built in Windsor , ON. I believe that is a 50th anniversary edition that was built only in January and February of 1954. The plate is quite different from a US built car. Hopefully someone has info on it. The number is 473BK54-144235 IT ALSO HAS "BA" AND "20" above the vin number Thx
Thank you Jeff. I will try that. Are you familiar with the Canadian Anniversary Edition? As far asd the VIN number is concerned I am curious what the K stands for. Someone told me that they thought it signified it as military or police vehicle.
Please have a look at this article and comment. Now I am REALLY curious! http://www.oldcarscanada.com/2011/04/1954-ford.html
Well, I remember them from when they were new, and the 53s had the aniversary edition on the horn ****on. Never saw that on a 54 model, so I have to ***UME that it was a 53 model only.
Hi Nykaabi Iceman, My Canadian Ch***is Manual decodes your VIN as 4 = Ford 73B = Customline 4 door sedan K = Oakville ***embly Plant 54 = 1954 144235 = production number 20 is a paint code = Raven Black BA is your upholstery trim code. I don't have a body manual handy, but most black cars were grey cloth and vinyl. 1953 was the 50th Anniversary edition, but the steering wheel and horn ring is interchangeable with the '54 model. The Canadian '54 Ford had the same styling as it's American cousin, but stuck with the '53 ch***is and the Flathead V8. Larry
